Comments for Downtown Disney Mcdonald’s Closes To Make Way For Pollo Campero

Pollo Campero

Yuck. 🙁 Gonna miss Micky D’s. It was one of the few places you could take a child for a cheaper than average lunch at WDW. Very few kids will eat Pollo Yucko.

Multi billion dollar companies do not invest in something they know will not succeed. Disney needs new business to revive tourist interests Not give them a product they can already buy in there own country. McDonalds is in every corner in the world. Make way for Pollo Campero and let’s see how they do first before judging. Give it a try.

Angie, have you even tried Pollo Campero? I went with my family this past weekend and it was delicious and the price is very reasonable. Their chicken is better than Pollo Tropical. One of the things I loved was their sauce station…OMG it was good! Next time you are in the area, try it. It is so much better and healthier than Micky D’s.

    I just found out!

I can’t believe what a bonehead move this is. Like Angie said, this is the one place to get a cheap, consistent meal at a good price. I eat there everytime I go.

In my opinion, you will not find a better place to watch the world than in McD’s at Disney.

It’s the World’s vacation destination, coupled with the world’s most recognized fast food provider. Everybody in the world recoginizes the brand and is fairly comfortable with being in a McDonald’s. You can really see the “People” in tourist from around the world. Not the “This is a strange place with a strange menu bewilderment” that you see in the other specialty restaurants.

I will miss this McDonald’s more than I miss Test Track.

    Just my 2 cents.

It’s the closed minded people who think this is a bad move that are the problem with vacationing at Disney World. No doubt you are the same people who let your kids run riot wherever you go and feed them mac and cheese every second meal. You can get artery lining, cardboard flavored McDonald’s on every corner all over the world (and might I add, you can STILL get it at Disney. The location near the All Star resorts is still open). If your kids will only eat McDonald’s and won’t even consider trying new foods then you’re doing a crap job raising them and it will be YOUR fault when they’re fat, unhealthy, unadventurous teenagers and adults. In terms of money, if you were looking for a cheap vacation Disney wasn’t a very smart choice. If you really don’t want to pay for restaurant food there is no rules saying you can’t bring your own. One of my very favorite Disney memory is eating at Sanaa at DAKL, an indian and asian inspired restaurant, and watching the 3 and 5 year old at the next table thoroughly enjoy experiencing new foods, not kicking up a fuss at all, and feeling sad by what a rare site that is in this country.

  4. Looks to me like Pollo Campero has much better meal offers for kids than MC’s. It might not be as cheap but how many places can really compete with MC’s prices??

It is important to see that McDonalds was a “quick fix, filled with fat” meal that you would get while making your way to any place. In a spot filled with multi-cultural tourism, many of which have a healthier diet than the one we have here in the States, it is importat to provide a better alternative to the well known fast food restaurants in the USA. Having said this, I can say that the meals served at Pollo Campero well surpasses the many chain burger and fast food places in the area in quality and healthy options, believeme I have had this chicken countless times.

For those concerned about kids’ eating options, if they are at all like my three-year-old son, they will love Pollo Campero. Our local Tampa location just closed a couple months ago due to location issues, and we miss it greatly. We have been eating there with our son since he was born and had no problems with him eating any item on the menu – especially when he can steal “mama’s” chicken sandwich to dip in his own special combination of the yuca fry sauce and cilantro sauce! And as for cost, you won’t find a more reasonably priced option for good, REAL food, especially at Disney.

Besides, after looking at their menu online for the Disney location, they seem to be offering more than the traditional Latin fare served at their non-Disney locations, so you can still get your burger if that’s what you so desperately need to make it through your Disney visit. But I would whole-heartedly recommend you skip the beef and try their fabulous signature recipe fried chicken – the only fried chicken I’ve ever eaten that didn’t leave me feeling heavy and greasy after I finished eating, and spices that make your mouth smile… You won’t regret it.
