Universal Orlando Resort is getting ready for one of its busiest times of the year, and guests hoping to experience one particularly popular holiday offering could soon face a race against the clock.

With the resort’s annual Christmas celebrations just weeks away, attention is turning toward an experience that consistently draws enormous interest from families. Unlike many of Universal’s seasonal activities, this one requires an additional purchase, and securing a spot isn’t always easy.

Now, an important reservation window appears to be approaching, potentially as soon as next week. And if previous years are any indication, guests who wait too long could find themselves missing out entirely.

Universal Orlando’s Grinch Breakfast Reservations Expected to Open Soon

Universal Orlando’s Grinch and Friends Character Breakfast is expected to return for the 2026 holiday season, bringing one of the resort’s most popular character dining experiences back to Islands of Adventure.

The experience traditionally takes place at Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous in Seuss Landing, where families enjoy breakfast while meeting the Grinch and other familiar characters from Whoville.

However, unlike a traditional character meet-and-greet, guests cannot simply walk up and expect to participate.

The experience operates through an advance reservation system, with limited seating available on select mornings. While this is not technically a virtual queue like those previously used for major theme park attractions, the reservation process creates a similar situation: guests must secure their spots before availability disappears.

And that opportunity could arrive at any moment.

As of October 8, 2026, Universal has not announced an official reservation opening date for this year’s Grinch Breakfast. However, reservations for the 2025 holiday season opened on October 8, 2025.

That timing makes the coming days especially important.

If Universal follows a similar schedule, reservations could become available before the end of this week or sometime next week.

Of course, Universal has not confirmed that timeline, so guests should avoid treating any particular date as guaranteed.

Still, families planning a holiday visit should begin checking Universal’s website regularly.

How Much Will the Grinch Breakfast Cost in 2026?

Another major question involves pricing.

Universal has not released official 2026 prices for the Grinch and Friends Character Breakfast, but last year’s rates provide a useful starting point.

During the 2025 holiday season, guests paid:

  • Adults ages 10 and older: $58.99 plus tax

  • Children ages 3 through 9: $32.99 plus tax

  • Family of four with two adults and two children: $183.96 before tax

Those prices covered the breakfast experience itself, not admission to Islands of Adventure.

Guests also needed valid theme park tickets for the day of their reservations, adding another expense to an already costly Universal Orlando vacation.

The experience included a shared cinnamon roll, an individual breakfast entrée, a beverage, and Grinch-themed cookies.

Last year’s menu featured options ranging from pancakes and waffles to smoked brisket hash, French toast, and other breakfast dishes.

But the real attraction wasn’t necessarily the food.

Families received personal interactions with the Grinch and Whoville characters, including opportunities to take pictures without waiting in the traditional character meet-and-greet line.

For many guests, that convenience made the additional expense worthwhile.

Whether Universal increases prices for 2026 remains unknown.

Universal Orlando’s Christmas Celebration Begins November 14

The approaching reservation window comes as Universal Orlando prepares to launch its annual holiday festivities.

Holidays at Universal Orlando Resort will run from November 14, 2026, through January 3, 2027, bringing seasonal entertainment, decorations, and character experiences across the resort.

At Islands of Adventure, Grinchmas will once again transform Seuss Landing into a festive celebration inspired by Dr. Seuss’s famous Christmas story.

Guests can look forward to the Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular, a live stage production featuring the Grinch, the Whos, and the familiar story of how Christmas was nearly stolen.

The Grinch will also return for seasonal character interactions, giving visitors another opportunity to meet him without purchasing the breakfast experience.

Meanwhile, Universal Studios Florida will welcome back Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s.

The parade brings enormous balloons, elaborate floats, holiday characters, and Santa Claus through the park.

Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will also return, with festive decorations and seasonal entertainment in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.

Universal Epic Universe will participate in the celebrations as well, introducing holiday touches throughout areas including Celestial Park, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic will also contribute to the resort’s growing holiday atmosphere.

Most of these seasonal festivities are included with regular theme park admission, although experiences such as the Grinch Breakfast and Universal Holiday Tour require additional purchases.

Why Guests Should Prepare Before Reservations Open

For families determined to enjoy breakfast with the Grinch, waiting until November to make plans could be a costly mistake.

Popular breakfast reservations have historically disappeared quickly, particularly on weekends and dates surrounding Christmas.

The limited number of tables means Universal cannot accommodate everyone who wants to participate.

During the previous season, guests needed prepaid reservations, and walk-ins were not accepted.

That makes preparation especially important for anyone visiting during the busiest portions of the holiday season.

Guests should know their preferred dates, determine how many people will attend, and be prepared to make their reservations once Universal releases availability.

It’s also important to remember that booking breakfast does not replace the need for theme park admission.

With October 8 already here, the clock is ticking on what could become one of Universal Orlando’s most competitive holiday reservations.

The resort hasn’t announced when bookings will officially begin, but the previous year’s timeline suggests an announcement could arrive very soon.

And for families hoping to spend a morning with the Grinch, securing that reservation early could make all the difference between enjoying a memorable holiday breakfast and watching the opportunity disappear.
