A Walt Disney World Resort guest got an unusual surprise when restaurant staff brought a birthday treat to their table at the end of a celebratory dinner. That treat? A single lit candle standing on an empty plate.

This week, Maddie Brewster (@maddiebrewster_pt on TikTok) shared a video of the single candle a member of their party received at a Walt Disney World Resort restaurant on their birthday. Instead of a small cupcake or a scoop of ice cream, the staff at the Disney Springs restaurant brought the guest a single lit candle, melted at the bottom to stand upright on an empty ceramic plate:

“I’ve never seen anything like that,” said one of the other guests who was crying with laughter.

The group was dining at Frontera Cocina, a Mexican restaurant in the Town Center neighborhood at Disney Springs. The Table-Service dining location is not owned or operated by Walt Disney World Resort, but it is eligible for the Disney Dining Plan. Still, the experience was definitely one of the most memorable parts of this group’s visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth.

In the comments, Brewster explained that the group did not blame their waiter, who they described as “so nice.”

“We don’t blame him, it’s gotta be the restaurant policy or something,” she wrote.

Some commenters assumed that the birthday guest must have had dietary restrictions that prevented Frontera Cocina from serving him a dessert, but Brewster corrected them.

“Nope! No dietary restrictions,” she replied. “We just said we were there to celebrate his birthday and this is what they brought out when they sang happy birthday.”
