But this October, guests staying at two Walt Disney World-area hotels have another way to celebrate without entering a theme park.
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin is preparing a full lineup of Halloween activities throughout October, with even more planned for Halloween weekend. Guests can expect costume contests, special treats, a scavenger hunt, an inflatable maze, trick-or-treating, face painting, poolside entertainment, and more.
Some of the perks will happen throughout the month, while others are limited to just a few days.
And that isn’t all guests receive by staying here. The Swan and Dolphin also offer several valuable Disney World benefits that can make a theme park vacation easier, including Early Theme Park Entry and advance Lightning Lane booking.
Here’s what guests should know before October arrives.
Halloween Takes Over the Swan and Dolphin in October
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin aren’t traditional Disney-owned hotels.
The hotels sit on Walt Disney World property, but Disney does not own or operate them. Both opened in 1990 and have a different history from Disney’s own resort hotels.
That difference can sometimes lead to events and promotions that guests won’t necessarily find at other Disney World resorts.
October 2026 is a good example.
Halloween festivities will take place throughout the month, starting with a weekly event that gives guests a reason to pack a costume.
Every Saturday in October, the hotels will hold a costume contest beginning at 5 p.m. The scheduled dates are October 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31.
Guests can dress up, show off their Halloween looks, and compete for prizes.
There’s another benefit to wearing a costume, too.
Anyone who arrives at one of the hotels’ sit-down restaurants wearing a Halloween costume can receive a special treat from the chef. That creates an easy way for guests to bring some Halloween fun into dinner without needing admission to a separately ticketed theme park event.
Adults will have seasonal options of their own, as the resort will offer Halloween-inspired cocktails alongside mocktails at locations throughout the property.
However, the biggest collection of activities doesn’t arrive until the end of the month.
Halloween Weekend Brings Even More Activities
Guests visiting between October 30 and November 1 will find additional Halloween entertainment around the resort.
One option is a scavenger hunt adventure. Guests can search for hidden treasures while working toward prizes, adding an activity that families can enjoy outside the theme parks.
There will also be an inflatable maze featuring Halloween surprises and kid-friendly scares.
For families looking for something more relaxed, the hotels plan to offer spooky arts and crafts. Guests can also check out Halloween-themed hair braiding.
The pool area will join the celebration as well. A poolside DJ will provide Halloween music and themed entertainment during the weekend.
Those activities could be particularly useful for families building a resort day into their Disney World vacation.
Instead of spending every morning and evening inside a park, guests could return to their hotel and still have seasonal entertainment waiting for them.
Then, on October 31, the Halloween lineup grows again.
Halloween Night Will Have Its Own Special Events
Guests staying at the Swan and Dolphin on Halloween won’t have to leave the resort to find trick-or-treating.
October 31 will bring trick-or-treating and face painting, along with another round of the costume contest.
On Halloween night, costume contests for children and adults will begin at 5:30 p.m. at two locations: the Dolphin’s Cabana Deck and the Swan Reserve’s Pool Deck near the towel hut.
Face painting will also be available, allowing guests to transform their Halloween look with designs inspired by magical creatures and friendly ghosts.
Combined with the weekend activities, that gives families several ways to celebrate Halloween without buying another event ticket.
Of course, guests who do want the full Disney Halloween experience can still head to Magic Kingdom.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Continues Throughout October
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party remains Disney World’s major Halloween event.
The separately ticketed event takes over Magic Kingdom on select nights with trick-or-treating, Halloween entertainment, characters, seasonal theming, and other special offerings.
October has plenty of party nights.
The event is scheduled for October 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 27, 29, and 31.
Those dates also matter to guests who aren’t attending the party.
Magic Kingdom closes to non-party guests at 6 p.m. on event nights. That can shorten a regular park day considerably, especially for travelers who expected to stay through the evening.
It also makes the Swan and Dolphin’s Halloween activities potentially more useful.
A family could visit Magic Kingdom earlier in the day, leave before the party begins, and still have seasonal entertainment available back at the hotel.
And for guests who don’t want to pay for a Halloween party ticket at all, the resort activities offer another way to add Halloween experiences to the trip.
A Seasonal Hotel Rate Is Available Through Halloween
The Halloween offerings arrive alongside a special room rate.
The Swan and Dolphin are advertising a seasonal rate starting at $209 per night for qualifying stays between August 15 and October 31.
Taxes and a resort service fee are additional, so guests shouldn’t expect $209 to represent the complete nightly cost.
Still, the rate could be worth comparing with Disney-owned hotels, particularly because staying at the Swan and Dolphin doesn’t mean giving up several major theme park benefits.
That’s where these hotels become especially interesting for Disney World visitors.
Guests Still Receive Several Major Disney World Benefits
The Halloween entertainment may be temporary, but several other Swan and Dolphin perks are available beyond October.
Guests can book Lightning Lanes seven days in advance, giving them the same important planning window available to guests at Disney’s eligible resort hotels.
They also receive Early Theme Park Entry, allowing them to enter Disney World’s theme parks before regular opening on eligible days.
Another major benefit is Extended Evening Hours at select parks. This perk can provide additional theme park time after normal operating hours when available.
Complimentary transportation is also offered, helping guests move between the resort and Disney World destinations without relying entirely on a personal vehicle.
Additional benefits include access to on-site and online Disney ticket services and advance tee times at Disney golf courses.
Those benefits make the hotels different from many traditional off-property options.
Guests aren’t staying at a Disney-owned resort, but they can still receive several advantages normally associated with an on-property Disney World vacation.
There’s Plenty to Do Without Entering a Theme Park
The resort complex itself offers more than Halloween activities.
Guests have access to pools, an arcade, a convention center, and more than 20 restaurants and lounges. In-room food delivery is another available option.
That gives travelers more flexibility on days when they don’t want to spend every waking hour inside Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom.
October’s Halloween additions simply give guests more reasons to spend time around the hotel.
A pool afternoon can turn into Halloween entertainment. Dinner can come with a costume-related treat. A resort evening can include a scavenger hunt, crafts, or a costume contest.
For families already planning downtime, those extras could make a resort day feel less like time away from the vacation.

Disney World visitors certainly won’t have trouble finding Halloween entertainment this October.
Magic Kingdom will continue hosting Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on select nights, but guests staying at the Swan and Dolphin can experience additional seasonal activities much closer to their rooms.
The Saturday costume contests stretch throughout October, while Halloween weekend brings the largest collection of offerings. Scavenger hunts, an inflatable maze, crafts, hair braiding, poolside entertainment, trick-or-treating, and face painting all join the lineup.
For guests considering the Swan or Dolphin for an October vacation, those seasonal additions could provide another reason to take a closer look.
