Destin Daniel Cretton’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) has reached dizzying new heights.

Since its release at the end of July, Spider-Man: Brand New Day—the fourth entry in Sony and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man series starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker–has continued to break records. The superhero movie quickly surpassed the $1 billion mark, then $2 billion, and has recently surpassed the likes of Avengers: Endgame (2019) on the list of highest-grossing domestic releases.

Now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, which also stars Zendaya (MJ) and Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/Punisher), has hit a new milestone. With a reported global box office of $2.32 billion (and climbing), per Comic Book Movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has overtaken James Cameron’s historical 1997 epic, Titanic (which had a total of $2.257 billion), as the fourth-highest-grossing movie of all time.

The Spider-Man movie now sits comfortably behind Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), which holds the third spot with $2.334 billion, and will most likely surpass it before entering the top three. Just Avengers: Endgame and Avatar (2009) stand in its way of reaching the top, with $2.797 billion and $2.923 billion, respectively.

This is a major moment for Sony, Marvel, and the Spider-Man franchise, cementing the wallcrawler as one of the most beloved pop culture characters of all time. Not only that, but Tom Holland is on a generational box-office run in 2026, as The Odyssey still plays in theaters, with a global haul of $1.458 billion at the time of publication.

These numbers will surely position Holland (as well as actors like Zendaya and Bernthal, who also star in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey) as one of the highest earners in Hollywood this year.

While Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to climb, there is a chance its records could be broken in just a few months’ time, when the Russo Brothers return to the Marvel franchise with Avengers: Doomsday (2026). The fifth Avengers movie is slated for a December 18 debut, opening alongside Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three (2026).
