Credit: Inside the MagicSpider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) only swung into theaters on July 31, and it has already caught over $1.6 billion worldwide in its web.
So, with that in mind, it’s fair to say that Tom Holland’s Spidey will return.
The question is, where and when? He’s not part of the extensive cast for the upcoming MCU film Avengers: Doomsday (2026). However, it’s possible he’s being saved for a surprise cameo (after all, the film will need to keep some appearances secret given the extent of its confirmed lineup).
Will Tom Holland Return as Spider-Man?
Brand New Day marks Holland’s fourth solo outing as the iconic webslinger following Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home, and his seventh appearance as the character overall, following Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
The new film stars Holland alongside Zendaya (Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk), and Sadie Sink as the X-Men mutant Jean Grey.
Both Holland and Marvel president Kevin Feige have confirmed that plans are being laid out for Spidey’s future beyond the new film. Meanwhile, the character himself will return in other corners of the wider Marvel franchise, and one surprising new project has just been announced.

Spider-Man Will Battle Doctor Doom Alongside the Avengers
Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm Publishing have unveiled Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles, the first-ever in-universe crossover between both iconic franchises.
The title is a clever merging of Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) and the iconic phrase “Avengers, assemble.”
“On April 12th, 1977, Marvel Comics introduced readers to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars #1. Now, 50 years later, it’s only fitting that the Star Wars galaxy collides with the Marvel Universe to celebrate the 50th anniversary of A New Hope,” says Michael Siglain, Creative Director of Lucasfilm Publishing via Marvel.com.
He adds: “With Hope Assembles, Kevin Smith has written a true love letter to Star Wars, to Marvel, and to comics in general. And combined with David Marquez’s incredible art, we’ll see the heroes and villains of Star Wars team up and battle with the heroes and villains of Earth-616.”
What makes this project even more exciting is the fact that it features Spider-Man and Doctor Doom, with the latter character being the main antagonist in Doomsday, where he will be played by Tony Stark/Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr.
So, while we wait to find out whether the friendly neighborhood superhero will show up in the new Avengers film and join the fight against Doom, Hope Assembles is likely to keep fans satisfied in the meantime.
Of course, as this is a Star Wars/Marvel crossover comic, readers can also expect to see Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca as they team up with Spider-Man and the Avengers to take on Darth Vader, who has formed an alliance with Doctor Doom.
The limited five-part series will launch with Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles #1 in January 2027.
It remains to be seen whether Tom Holland will return as Spider-Man in Avengers: Doomsday, which releases this December. The actor is not part of the film’s extensive lineup; however, many fans believe that Brand New Day‘s post-credits scene suggests he will get a cameo of some kind.
