The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man film follows the events of No Way Home (2021), which ended with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) conjuring a spell that made the world forget who Peter Parker (Tom Holland) was, including his girlfriend MJ Watson (Zendaya) and best friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon).
Now, Peter is “fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him” and comes face to face with “a powerful villain no one can even see,” the official synopsis from Marvel says.
While much of the attention surrounding Brand New Day focused on Holland’s future as Spider-Man and the introduction of new characters, Sadie Sink’s role was kept secret for months after her casting was announced. Now, after plenty of speculation, we finally know her true identity.

Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey Debuts in the MCU
Sadie Sink has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jean Grey, the powerful mutant previously portrayed by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner in the X-Men film franchise.
Jean Grey was first portrayed by Famke Janssen in X-Men (2000), with the actor returning for X2: X-Men United (2003), and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), before later appearing in cameo roles in The Wolverine (2013) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
Sophie Turner played a younger version of the character in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and Dark Phoenix (2019).
Whether Sink will reprise her role as Jean Grey in future MCU projects remains to be seen.
She isn’t part of the announced cast for Avengers: Doomsday (2026), despite that film featuring several actors from Fox’s X-Men films, although the character’s introduction could open the door for further appearances as Marvel continues building toward the arrival of mutants in the MCU.
With Marvel Studios now officially bringing Jean Grey into its universe, fans will be watching closely to see how Sadie Sink’s version of the character fits into the future of the franchise.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now in theaters. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, it’s the fourth film in the MCU’s Spider-Man series, following Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home.
