Universal has made it official: SUPER NINTENDO WORLD is about to grow again, and the expansion could influence far more of the company’s theme parks than many fans expected. What started as a single-themed land has quickly become one of Universal’s biggest global success stories, drawing crowds with immersive attractions, interactive experiences, and familiar video game worlds brought to life.

With another version of the land now taking shape, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Universal sees Nintendo as one of its most valuable long-term partners. While this newest project is still under construction, it offers another glimpse into the company’s larger strategy and raises interesting questions about where the franchise could go next. Here’s everything we know.

Why Is SUPER NINTENDO WORLD So Popular?

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD has quickly become one of Universal’s biggest success stories. Instead of simply recreating locations from the games, the land immerses guests in the Mushroom Kingdom with moving scenery, interactive elements, and familiar characters around nearly every corner.

Its biggest attraction is Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, which blends physical sets with augmented reality to put riders in the middle of a Mario Kart race against Team Bowser. Families can also enjoy Yoshi’s Adventure, a gentler ride that winds through colorful landscapes while guests search for hidden eggs and Nintendo characters.

At Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe, Mine-Cart Madness expands the experience even further. The Donkey Kong-themed coaster uses innovative ride technology to recreate the famous mine cart jumps from the video games, making it one of the land’s signature attractions.

Together, these experiences have helped make SUPER NINTENDO WORLD one of Universal’s most popular themed lands, proving that Nintendo’s worlds translate remarkably well into theme park attractions.

The Expansion Keeps Growing

Universal is now preparing to bring SUPER NINTENDO WORLD to another destination.

Construction is well underway at Universal Studios Singapore, where the company is building its newest version of the land. Although Universal has not announced an official opening date, guests can expect many of the signature experiences synonymous with SUPER NINTENDO WORLD worldwide.

The Singapore version is expected to include Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge and Yoshi’s Adventure, giving visitors the chance to experience two of the franchise’s biggest attractions. Interactive gameplay with Power-Up Bands is also expected, allowing guests to collect virtual coins, complete challenges, and unlock digital achievements throughout the land.

The expansion is also anticipated to feature themed dining, exclusive merchandise, and the colorful environments that have helped make SUPER NINTENDO WORLD one of Universal’s most recognizable experiences. Rather than creating a completely different concept for each resort, Universal appears focused on making Nintendo a consistent part of its global parks portfolio.

Nintendo Is Becoming Universal’s Next Harry Potter

The continued expansion says a lot about Universal’s long-term strategy.

Years ago, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter transformed Universal’s parks and became one of the company’s biggest investments. It didn’t stay confined to one destination. Instead, Universal expanded the concept across multiple parks worldwide, making Harry Potter one of its defining brands.

Nintendo now appears to be following a very similar path.

Instead of treating SUPER NINTENDO WORLD as a one-time project, Universal continues investing in new locations while giving more guests around the world access to the franchise. Every new land reinforces Nintendo’s importance within Universal’s portfolio and strengthens the partnership between the two companies.

With each expansion, Nintendo becomes less like a single themed land and more like a permanent pillar of Universal’s future.

What Does This Mean for Universal Orlando?

The newest expansion will undoubtedly spark more speculation about what’s next for Universal Orlando Resort.

Fans have spent years discussing additional Nintendo properties that could eventually find a home in the resort. One of the biggest rumors continues to center on The Legend of Zelda, with many enthusiasts believing the franchise could eventually replace the Lost Continent area at Islands of Adventure.

That speculation has only intensified as the Lost Continent continues to be dismantled following years of gradual changes. While Universal has not announced any plans for the area, the continued growth of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD worldwide will likely keep those conversations alive.

Pokémon is another franchise fans frequently mention. Although Pokémon is not technically a Nintendo-owned property, it remains closely associated with Nintendo through decades of handheld and console releases. Universal could eventually broaden its approach beyond Nintendo and embrace major video game franchises across its parks if it believes there is demand.

For now, those ideas remain speculation, but Universal’s willingness to keep expanding its gaming offerings suggests the company sees plenty of room for future growth.

Looking Beyond One New Land

The expansion of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD into another Universal destination is bigger than a single construction project. It signals that Universal believes Nintendo has the staying power to anchor attractions around the world for years to come.

As new versions of the land continue to open, fans will naturally begin wondering which video game worlds could be next. Whether that eventually includes Zelda, Pokémon, or entirely new franchises remains to be seen.

One thing is becoming increasingly clear, though: Universal isn’t slowing down its investment in gaming. If anything, the company appears to be doubling down, and that could have a lasting impact on the future of its parks across the globe.
