Roughly a week after Magic Kingdom Park guests noticed a steel framework around a building often used as an extension of the Haunted Mansion queue, Walt Disney World Resort construction crews appear to have completely enclosed the structure. Here’s what to know before your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth.

For several months, the exterior of the Haunted Mansion attraction has been surrounded by scaffolding and themed scrim. Most recently, some of the scaffolding came down, revealing that Walt Disney World Resort had repainted the cupola at the top of the building in a new metallic green, matching other exterior details on the 54-year-old building.

Walt Disney World Resort seems to be extending the Haunted Mansion facade as part of the ongoing construction of the Cars (2006)-themed Piston Peak National Park in Frontierland and the Disney Villains land “beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.” Although Disney hasn’t confirmed this, early construction activity suggests that formerly backstage portions of the Haunted Mansion attraction will be visible to guests once those new areas open.

Despite the ongoing construction, the Haunted Mansion attraction remains open for Magic Kingdom Park guests to enjoy. Walt Disney World Resort has not indicated plans to close the ride temporarily.

About a week ago, construction crews installed a steel framework, including a roof and a window opening, on a building often used as an extension of the Haunted Mansion queue in Liberty SquareAccording to WDWNT, that framework has now been fully enclosed. The initial framework is still visible on the roof,  but will likely be covered up in the coming days.

Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t shared anything about its plans for the building, which sits across from Memento Mori near the former edge of the Rivers of America. It’s unclear whether it will continue to serve as an extension of the Haunted Mansion queue or be absorbed into the Piston Peak National Park expansion coming ot Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom.
