While Robert Pattinson will return as the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’ The Batman — Part II, the DCU is casting a new actor as the character in the upcoming film The Brave and the Bold (TBA).
Based on the DC comic book storyline of the same name and directed by Andy Muschietti (2023’s The Flash), The Brave and the Bold will introduce an all-new Bruce Wayne/Batman into James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU, in much the same way that David Corenswet portrayed the new Clark Kent/Kal-El in last year’s Superman (2025), which was written and directed by Gunn himself.

Who Will Be the New Batman?
Whoever takes up the mantle of the new live-action Batman will follow Adam West (’60s Batman), Michael Keaton (the Tim Burton films), Val Kilmer (Batman Forever), George Clooney (Batman & Robin), Christian Bale (The Dark Knight trilogy), Ben Affleck (the DCEU films), and Robert Pattinson (The Batman).
Speculation around who will get the keys to the Batmobile has circulated since the project was first announced, but now, a new report points to British actor Tom Brittney (Grantchester), whose name entered the conversation last November when Gunn sparked speculation after responding on Threads (via The Direct) to a fan who suggested that Brittney could play Batman.
“That guy is a great f**king actor!” Gunn said.
Now, YouTube film pundit John Campea thinks the role of Batman has already been cast.

“I think I know who the DCU Batman is,” Campea says in his YouTube video, adding: ” I think they’ve cast him. I had somebody write to me about a particular person that they believe just got cast. I get a lot of those. I don’t pay attention to a lot of them. But then I heard from somebody else, who’s a little bit more well positioned, that they’ve verified that it looks like this is guy.”
Campea does not name the actor, explaining: “I’m not going to say it right now, but I will say this: It’s not a name I would have guessed. And I don’t think it’s a bad name.” However, shortly after his video, speculation once again centered on Tom Brittney, with multiple industry insiders claiming that the actor is the Batman casting Campea is alluding to. Could Brittney Pull It Off?
There are two pretty interesting things to note about Brittney: Not only was he reported to have auditioned or been in contention for the role of Clark Kent/Superman in last year’s reboot, but he actually looks a lot like David Corenswet, so Gunn may be going for a similar look for the new Batman.
With all that said, neither DC Studios nor Warner Bros. has confirmed any casting for the film.
The Batman — Part II releases in theaters on October 1, 2027.
There’s no release date for The Brave and the Bold.
