The first Halloween reboot that’s set to follow the Blumhouse-David Gordon Green trilogy, which concluded in 2022 with Halloween Ends, is set to arrive later this year. But while there are some familiar faces, there’s one who’s mysteriously absent from the new lineup.

Halloween: The Game is a multiplayer experience that allows players to take on the role of either a “Hero” or the unstoppable bogeyman himself.

You can also play offline as Michael, in a campaign mode that starts from his escape from Smith’s Grove, giving us more of “the night he came home.”

The third-person, asymmetrical survival horror is developed by Illfonic (Friday the 13th: The Game, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed), and takes place during the events of John Carpenter’s original 1978 film. However, it doesn’t include Laurie Strode, the iconic character who has appeared in nine Halloween movies.

Jamie Lee Curtis played the franchise “final girl” in all but two of those installments, with Scout Taylor-Compton taking on the role in the 2007 Rob Zombie remake and its 2009 sequel.

Halloween: The Game has a new lineup of heroes, who have now been confirmed.

Per the official website, those characters are: Thomas Armitage, a “star college football player” and “courageous leader”; Jennifer Aarons, a bookstore employee who finds Haddonfield claustrophobic; Tanya Harrison, who’s described as “carefree” and works at the town’s record store; Rachel Calahan, an occult enthusiast who’s “fascinated by death and the unknown”; and Marcus Navarro, another teen who struggles with the sleepy Illinois town.

“Haddonfield is a quiet, unassuming town in Illinois bursting with idyllic American charm. Its heart beats in sync with the eclectic array of people and personalities who inhabit this seemingly sleepy community,” the official description for the new heroes lineup reads.

It adds: “Innocence allows these residents to carry on with their lives blissfully naïve to the horrors that will inevitably unfold before their eyes. Despite the looming evil and impending homecoming of the cold, calculating Boogeyman, our Heroes of Haddonfield stand proudly as shining examples of this town’s resilience and vitality.”

While the actors playing the new Haddonfield heroes have yet to be revealed, it has been confirmed that Michael Myers is being portrayed by both original Halloween (1978) actor Nick Castle, and actor/stuntman TJ Storm, both through motion capture performance. Storm represents the first diverse actor to portray the character of Michael Myers in a Halloween installment.

The good guys are joined by franchise legend Dr. Samuel Loomis. That actor is also unknown, however, the late Donald Pleasence’s likeness has been used to recreate the character.

Here’s the description for the game, per the official website:

“Boogeyman or Hero: The Boogeyman is out. Team up in a 1v4 asymmetrical horror showdown on everyone’s favorite night of the year. Choose to save the quiet town of Haddonfield from bloodshed as a Hero of Haddonfield or stalk and terrorize the residents as Michael Myers.”

Halloween: The Game launches on September 8, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
