After months of construction, Walt Disney World Resort has finally reopened an entry to the pyramid in the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. However, refurbishment work on the structure continues.

In February, the left-side entrance to the pyramid in the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT closed. Scaffolding appeared on the structure, suggesting Disney cast members were refurbishing some of the building infrastructure.

Then, in April, the front-left entrance to the iconic pyramid also closed, leaving just one entry and exit point on the right side of the building that houses shops, the San Angel Inn Restaurante, and the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros ride. Disney cast members appeared to be adding Mesoamerican-inspired theming to the building’s exterior.

Let’s go over the latest construction update as of May 19, 2026.

On Tuesday, WDWNT reported that the front-left entrance to the pyramid in the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT had reopened. The rope and stanchions that previously blocked the doorway are now gone, and Disney Park guests are free to enter and exit the building there.

However, the far left entrance to the pyramid remains closed. Scaffolding is still on the outside of the structure, and Disney cast members appear to remain focused on refreshing some of the building’s theming.

A scrim-covered column blocks the left-side doorway from the inside of the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion pyramid, and a sign instructs guests to “please use an alternate exit.” Stanchions and rope block the doorway.

Walt Disney World Resort has not commented publicly on the refurbishment of the iconic pyramid in the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. The offerings inside the pyramid, including the merchandise locations, San Angel Inn Restaurante, and Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros, remain open and are operating normally.
