Disneyland Resort is preparing to add another experience to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, this time putting one of the franchise’s most popular characters directly at the center of the action.

Beginning May 16, guests visiting Batuu will be able to watch The Curious Child, a brand-new nighttime projection show starring Grogu ahead of the theatrical debut of The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026) later this month. The limited-time offering will take over the rocky spires surrounding the Millennium Falcon in the Black Spire Outpost section of the land, creating a new nighttime spectacle designed to immerse guests deeper into the world of Star Wars.

According to Disneyland Resort, the new show follows Grogu as he uses the Force to revisit memories from his adventures alongside Din Djarin, better known to fans as the Mandalorian. The experience is expected to feature emotional moments and familiar imagery from the Disney+ series while helping promote Lucasfilm’s next major theatrical release.

“For a limited time beginning May 16, celebrate the release of the film by catching Grogu as he tests his power to recall fond memories of his adventures with The Mandalorian in  “The Curious Child,” playing after  “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park,” Disney Parks Blog wrote. “These nightly stunning projection effects transform the spires of Batuu near the Millennium Falcon, taking you on a storytelling adventure across the galaxy.”

The addition of The Curious Child continues Disney’s recent push to expand nighttime entertainment offerings inside Galaxy’s Edge. The show will reportedly play following Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga, another projection-based experience already operating inside the land. Disneyland has also continued to present Fire of the Rising Moons, which allows guests to experience Disneyland Park fireworks from inside Batuu, accompanied by custom musical arrangements and atmospheric lighting.

For years, Galaxy’s Edge primarily operated within the timeline of Disney’s sequel trilogy, limiting character appearances and storytelling opportunities. However, Disneyland has increasingly relaxed those restrictions, allowing legacy characters and newer fan favorites to coexist throughout the land as of late April 2026.

That shift has already led to appearances from characters including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, and Princess Leia, dramatically changing the experience for longtime fans who wanted a broader representation of the franchise inside the themed land.

Now, Grogu appears set to become the centerpiece of Disney’s latest marketing push as anticipation builds for Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian and Grogu, which arrives in theaters on May 22.

Disneyland’s celebration of the upcoming film extends beyond the nighttime show. Disney has also announced updates to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run that will incorporate Mando and Grogu into the attraction experience and will commence on May 22 in line with the movie’s release. New themed food and beverage offerings, merchandise collections, souvenir novelties, and special entertainment additions are also expected to debut around the resort.

The expansion reflects Disney’s continued reliance on Grogu as one of the company’s strongest modern franchise draws. Since first appearing in The Mandalorian in 2019, the character has become a merchandising phenomenon while remaining a major presence across Disney theme park resorts worldwide.

For Disneyland, The Curious Child also represents another attempt to increase nighttime activity inside Galaxy’s Edge, an area that often transforms dramatically after sunset thanks to its lighting package, ambient music, and large-scale architecture. Projection shows have increasingly become a major part of Disney’s entertainment strategy, allowing parks to add new offerings without building entirely new infrastructure.

Disney has not yet announced how long The Curious Child will remain at Galaxy’s Edge, though the experience is currently being promoted as a limited-time offering tied to the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu.

With Grogu continuing to dominate the Star Wars franchise both on-screen and inside the parks, Disney appears ready to ensure guests heading to Batuu this summer will have one more reason to stay after dark.
