Planning a Walt Disney World vacation has always involved one big question: should you buy the Disney Dining Plan or skip it altogether? For years, fans have debated whether the plans are worth the cost, whether they save time, and whether they actually help families budget for a trip that already feels expensive enough. Now, Disney is making some major changes for 2027, and honestly, this might be the biggest dining update we’ve seen in years.

A lot of guests expected Disney to simply recycle the same offers from 2026 and move on. Instead, the company is rolling out three completely different dining-related deals and updates for 2027 vacations. Some are focused on saving families money. Others are aimed at international travelers. And one introduces an entirely new dining plan tier that changes how Disney dining works altogether.

For families who spend a huge chunk of their vacation budget on meals, snacks, character dining, and sit-down restaurants, these updates could seriously impact how people plan their trips next year.

Disney Is Changing the Way Dining Plans Work in 2027

The biggest announcement is easily the arrival of a brand-new Disney Dining Plan option.

For the first time in years, Disney is introducing a new premium dining tier called the Disney Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan. This is a pretty dramatic expansion of the system guests have become familiar with over the past several years.

Up until now, guests mainly had two options. There was the Quick-Service Dining Plan for travelers who preferred grabbing meals on the go, and then there was the standard Disney Dining Plan that combined quick-service meals with table-service dining.

That second plan is actually getting renamed in 2027. Disney will now call it the Table-Service Dining Plan instead of simply the Disney Dining Plan, likely because the company now needs a way to separate it from the new deluxe option.

The new deluxe tier is designed for guests who want a much more food-heavy vacation. It includes:

  • Two table-service meals per night of stay
  • One quick-service meal per night
  • One snack or nonalcoholic beverage
  • A refillable resort mug
  • Alcoholic beverages for guests 21 and older at eligible meals

Disney is clearly targeting guests who enjoy signature restaurants, character dining, and longer sit-down experiences throughout the parks and resorts.

And honestly, this could become surprisingly popular.

Over the past few years, Disney has leaned heavily into upscale dining experiences. Restaurants like Space 220, Topolino’s Terrace, Story Book Dining at Artist Point, and Steakhouse 71 have become major parts of the Disney vacation experience. Many guests now treat dining reservations almost like attractions themselves.

This new plan feels built specifically for that crowd.

The Prices Are Definitely Going Up

Of course, there’s one thing Disney fans immediately noticed when these details dropped: the prices.

The Quick-Service Dining Plan in 2027 will cost $62.78 per adult per night and $25.82 per child ages 3 to 9.

Meanwhile, the newly renamed Table-Service Dining Plan will cost $99.87 per adult and $31.94 per child per night.

Then comes the new premium option.

The Disney Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan will cost a massive $163.01 per adult per night and $46.85 per child per night.

That number definitely jumps off the page.

For a family of four staying five nights, the deluxe plan could easily add several thousand dollars to a vacation package. That’s not a small upgrade. It’s essentially turning dining into one of the centerpiece experiences of the trip itself.

Still, there are Disney fans who will absolutely see value in it.

If someone already books character meals nearly every day, grabs cocktails during dinner, and spends a lot of time at signature restaurants, the math could work in their favor. Disney knows there’s a section of its audience willing to spend heavily on food experiences, especially during milestone trips or longer vacations.

Families With Kids Are Getting a New Discount

While the new deluxe plan is grabbing most of the attention, Disney is also introducing a family-focused dining discount for 2027.

Guests who book a vacation package that includes a dining plan will receive 20% off dining plans for children ages 3 through 9.

Now, some fans immediately compared this to the “Kids Eat Free” offer Disney used in 2026 and viewed it as a downgrade. And honestly, that reaction makes sense. Free always sounds better than 20% off.

But the savings could still add up pretty quickly for larger families.

Disney dining costs have climbed substantially over the past several years. Character dining meals alone can easily run well over $50 per child depending on the location. Even quick-service meals inside the parks feel noticeably more expensive than they did just a few years ago.

For parents already planning to buy a dining plan anyway, a 20% discount for kids does help soften the blow a little.

This also feels like Disney trying to appeal more aggressively to younger families again after several years of complaints about rising vacation costs. Between Lightning Lane purchases, hotel prices, and ticket increases, many families have started questioning whether Disney vacations are still financially realistic.

Dining discounts are one way Disney can make those packages feel a little more approachable again.

International Guests Are Getting One of the Best Deals

The third dining offer is specifically aimed at guests visiting from the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Disney is bringing back a version of its Free Disney Dining Plan offer for qualifying international travelers booking 2027 vacations.

To qualify, guests need to:

The eligible travel dates run across most arrival windows between January 3 and December 19, 2027.

This is a pretty major perk because international guests often stay much longer than domestic travelers. A family visiting from the UK may spend 10 to 14 days at Walt Disney World instead of a shorter four- or five-day trip.

Free dining becomes a huge value during vacations that long.

Disney has historically used these international dining offers to encourage overseas tourism during slower travel periods. They’ve also become incredibly popular with repeat international visitors who specifically wait for these promotions before booking.

For many UK guests, free dining promotions are almost expected at this point.

Dining Is Becoming a Bigger Part of Disney Vacations

One thing that stands out from all of these announcements is how aggressively Disney continues positioning dining as a core part of the vacation experience.

Years ago, dining plans mainly felt like budgeting tools. They helped guests prepay meals and avoid spending surprises during the trip.

Now, Disney is treating dining like a premium entertainment offering.

That shift has been happening gradually for a while. EPCOT festivals continue growing larger every year. Signature restaurants are becoming more elaborate. Character dining experiences now require serious advance planning. Even snacks have turned into social media events.

The arrival of a deluxe dining plan only pushes that trend even further.

And honestly, this strategy makes sense for Disney.

Attractions eventually hit capacity. Restaurants, lounges, festivals, and food experiences create entirely new ways for Disney to generate revenue while keeping guests inside the bubble longer.

For guests, though, the big question will still come down to value.

Some families will absolutely love these new options. Others may look at the pricing and decide they’d rather pay out of pocket or split meals instead. Either way, Disney clearly believes dining remains one of the biggest selling points of a Walt Disney World vacation heading into 2027.
