Credit: Universal PicturesFew franchises have defined blockbuster cinema quite like Jurassic Park (1993). And soon, fans will get to spend more time than ever before immersed in a Jurassic story that officially forms part of the long-running film series.
Directed by Steven Spielberg, the groundbreaking 1993 film introduced audiences to a world where dinosaurs were brought to life through genetic engineering (or, on our side of the screen, through Stan Winston and Industrial Light & Magic), while also featuring equally memorable characters of the human variety, like Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), and John Hammond (the late Richard Attenborough).
The series has since expanded with many sequels: The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Jurassic Park III (2001), Jurassic World (2015), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), Jurassic World Dominion (2022), and most recently Jurassic World Rebirth (2025).
While reports now suggest that yet another film may already be in development, with Rebirth director Gareth Edwards and lead actor Scarlett Johansson reportedly in talks to return, the next major Jurassic Park installment is arriving in a completely different format.
New Jurassic Park Sequel in Development
Jurassic Park: Survival (TBA) is an upcoming first-person action-adventure video game from Saber Interactive. It’s set just 24 hours after the events of Jurassic Park (1993), inviting players back to Isla Nublar in the aftermath of the park’s collapse as seen in the film.
The story centers on a new protagonist, an InGen scientist named Dr. Maya Joshi (Payal Mistry), who has been left stranded on the island following the film’s events. Players will navigate a living, breathing island while evading iconic dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus rex, Dilophosaurus, and Velociraptors, using stealth and environmental awareness to survive.
It Will Be Longer Than Any of the Jurassic Films
The game also revisits areas from the film such as the iconic gates and the Visitor Center while expanding into unseen sections of the island, including a hotel resort, underground tunnels, and more dinosaur paddocks, suggesting the island was far bigger and more complex than shown on screen.
The world in the game is described on the official website as a “fully realized Isla Nublar.” As such, players will need a lot of time to explore every corner of the island. Not only that, but the story campaign itself will also require its own commitment.

Based on the behind-the-scenes featurette released last summer alone, it’s clear that Jurassic Park: Survival is being treated with the same level of meticulous care and expertise of big-screen Jurassic projects, while also acting as a direct sequel to the 1993 film.
Of course, as it’s a video game, its story will naturally surpass the runtime of any individual film in the franchise. Unlike the Jurassic films, which typically run between two and two-and-a-half hours (except for the surprisingly short Jurassic Park III), the game’s structure will allow for a more extended exploration of its story and world, while also expanding the world established in Spielberg’s 1993 blockbuster.
“It’s really exciting to be able to translate this incredible film into a video game because you really have the opportunity to go much deeper into the film,” Jurassic World Project Executive Lisa St Amand says in the behind-the-scenes video, which you can watch below:
When Is Jurassic Park: Survival Out?
Jurassic Park: Survival will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
“Return to Isla Nublar the day after the events of the beloved 1993 Jurassic Park film in an original adventure 65 million years in the making,” the official synopsis for the game reads.
It continues: “Survive thrilling first-person action as InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar, in this single-player action-adventure game and discover a never-before-told story. Through thrilling encounters, experience the wonder and danger of dinosaurs, each with their own distinct and adaptive behaviors brought to life by John Hammond’s vision.”
