After the Toy Story (1995) character statues disappeared from their post outside the LEGO Store in Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney District earlier this year, the latest construction update confirms that a Frozen (2013) display will replace the iconic Pixar characters.
Update on LEGO Store Construction at the Downtown Disney District
In February 2026, the Buzz Lightyear and Woody LEGO statues disappeared from outside the LEGO Store in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort. The Toy Story characters had welcomed Southern California Disney Park guests to the shop since its grand opening in 2001.
Sometimes, character statues like this are taken away for cleaning, repair, or refurbishment. However, shortly after Buzz and Woody went missing, their themed backdrop and Buzz’s rocket disappeared, suggesting the pair may never return.
This week, fans of the iconic Pixar franchise just had their worst fears confirmed.
Anna and Elsa on the Way
On April 20, WDWNT reported that gold and yellow frames made of oversized building blocks had appeared around some of the exterior windows at the LEGO Store in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort, near where Buzz and Woody once stood. A photo shared by the outlet on Facebook shows that the logo for Frozen made of blue and white building blocks now sits inside the frame, indicating that statues of the film’s characters may soon take shape at the Southern California retail location.
Disneyland Resort and the LEGO Store haven’t announced which Frozen characters will welcome guests at the LEGO Store in the Downtown Disney District. However, the statues are most likely to involve Anna, Elsa, and potentially Olaf–the three most popular characters from the Disney Princess franchise.
Construction walls still surround parts of the LEGO Store, including a former display inspired by Beauty and the Beast (1991). The massive statue of Prince Phillip battling Maleficent atop the retail building was restored earlier this year.
The LEGO Store remains open for guests throughout the ongoing exterior refurbishment.
