For the first time since Shanghai Disneyland opened almost ten years ago, Disney has opened a brand-new theme park. Let’s take a look at Disney Adventure World, the only Disney park with “world” in its name outside of the original Walt Disney World Resort in Central Florida!

Goodbye Walt Disney Studios Park, Hello Disney Adventure World

On March 28, 2026, Disneyland Paris Resort’s original second theme park, Walt Disney Studios Park, welcomed its final guests. After 24 years, one of the most controversial Disney parks in the world closed its gates forever.

Walt Disney Studios Park was controversial from the start, often touted as a low-budget version of Disney’s Hollywood Studios (originally Disney-MGM Studios) at Walt Disney World Resort. The second European Disney park suffered constant operational issues over the years, facing criticism for its sterile backlot theme and lack of attractions, making it a “half-day park.”

In April 2025, Disneyland Paris Resort announced that it would transform Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World. Similar to Walt Disney World Resort’s recent transformation of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the European Disney Resort decided to transform a park about the art of movie-making into an immersive journey through guests’ favorite franchises.

Now, after weeks of media and Passholder previews, Disney Adventure World is officially open to the public.

The first guests arrived at Disney Adventure World in the early morning hours of March 29, 2026. X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DLPReport shared this video of excited visitors entering the park’s new entrance land, World Premiere Plaza:

What to Expect

Although technically a new theme park, Disney Adventure World still boasts many of the same fan-favorite attractions and lands as Walt Disney Studios Park, including the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Marvel Avengers Campus, and the Worlds of Pixar (including Toy Story Playland).

New areas at the second Disneyland Paris Resort theme park include World Premiere Plaza, Adventure Way, and the World of Frozen. World Premiere Plaza is the park’s main entrance area, lined with shops, restaurants, and a theater.

In Adventure Way, guests can experience the new Raiponce Tangled Spin attraction, inspired by Tangled (2010). Mandy Moore, the original voice of Rapunzel, returned to record an all-new voice-over for the ride. It’s also home to Regal View Restaurant & Lounge, the new character dining experience at Disney Adventure World. Guests of all ages can get a taste of royal life while meeting iconic Disney Princesses, including Belle, Aurora, Jasmine, and Ariel.

Adventure Way is the best place to see Disneyland Paris Resort’s awe-inspiring new nighttime show, Disney Cascade of Lights. The nighttime entertainment offering features pyrotechnics, water effects, and new aquatic drone technology, accompanied by music and imagery inspired by films such as Mulan (1998), Hercules (1997), Zootopia (2016), Up (2009), and Moana (2016).

Of course, the biggest expansion at Disney Adventure World is the World of Frozen. The all-new land includes the Frozen Ever After (similar to the boat ride in EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort) attraction, the Nordic Crowns Tavern, a Royal Encounter with Anna and Elsa, and the “A Celebration in Arendelle” show. This entertainment offering gives guests the chance to see the brand-new walk-around Olaf audio-animatronic.

More to Come

There’s more fun ahead for Disney Adventure World. An Up spinning carousel is under construction in Adventure Way, as well as a land and log flume ride inspired by The Lion King (1994). Disneyland Paris Resort hasn’t announced grand opening dates for either of these projects.

Planning documents also suggest that the European Disney Resort may be planning an Avatar (2009) land for its second theme park, like Pandora – The World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park at Walt Disney World Resort. Disneyland Paris Resort hasn’t confirmed this; however, Disney is currently developing an Avatar attraction for Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort.
