Disappointing news for Disney Park guests: the Jungle Cruise attraction is now closed, with no reopening date scheduled. Families walking through Adventureland will encounter construction walls and other barriers at the entrance to the 70-year-old ride.

Disneyland Resort opened the first version of the Jungle Cruise alongside Disneyland Park on July 17, 1955. The eight-minute boat ride through Asian, African, and South American rivers, filled with realistic animal audio-animatronics and faux cultural artifacts, started as an educational experience but eventually evolved into the pun-filled, family-friendly adventure that Disney Park guests know today.

The Jungle Cruise was so successful that versions of the Adventureland ride eventually opened in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort, Tokyo Disneyland at Tokyo Disney Resort, and Hong Kong Disneyland. Unfortunately, for the foreseeable future, Disneyland Resort guests will have to travel to one of these parks to experience the classic attraction…or, watch the 2021 film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt.

On Tuesday, February 17, the Jungle Cruise closed for an indefinite scheduled refurbishment at Disneyland Park. The Southern California Disney destination hasn’t announced an opening date for the ride. The park’s official calendar currently only goes through the end of March 2026, and the Jungle Cruise is not listed as operational through then.

Just one day into the maintenance period, Disney cast members installed construction walls and other temporary barriers around the Jungle Cruise entrance at Disneyland Park. WDWNT shared this photo of the shuttered Adventureland attraction entrance on Facebook:

Disneyland Resort hasn’t made any public statements about the scope of the refurbishment project and whether guests will notice any changes to the 70-year-old ride when it reopens. Follow Inside the Magic for updates on this and other developments at Disney parks around the world!
