Some Hulu subscribers will lose access to the app on February 5.
The end of Hulu has been years in the making. As previously announced, 2026 marks the streaming service’s final year of operation as Disney moves to fully merge the platform and its content into Disney+.

As a result, Hulu Originals – including Only Murders in the Building, The Kardashians, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and others – will eventually live exclusively on Disney+, with Hulu no longer serving as their primary home.
These will sit alongside more traditional Disney content, such as animated classics like Frozen (2013) and The Lion King (1994), plus more recent Marvel and Star Wars projects, including The Mandalorian.
Disney began laying the groundwork for this shift last year when Hulu replaced Star on Disney+ in all territories outside the U.S., except Japan, where the Hulu brand is owned by Nippon Television.
Disney has steadily bundled Hulu with Disney+ and ESPN+ in the U.S. in recent years, and this move pushes that strategy further. Hulu’s library will now live directly inside Disney+, eliminating the need to switch apps and streamlining features like recommendations and watchlists.

Disney has also phased out older subscription models that allowed customers to add Disney+ through Hulu at a discounted rate. Under the new structure, Disney+ now functions as the primary service, with Hulu positioned as an add-on.
This change has pushed many subscribers to manage billing and plan options through Disney+ rather than Hulu. The move reflects Disney’s broader effort to simplify its streaming ecosystem and centralize account management.
Final Date Confirmed For Some Hulu Users
While Disney has not confirmed when Hulu will shut down entirely, one firm date is now set.

On February 5, the Hulu app will be removed from the Nintendo Switch eShop, ending support for the platform where it first launched in 2017. The app let Switch owners watch Hulu content either in handheld mode or docked on a TV, aligning neatly with the console’s hybrid design.
A notice on Nintendo’s support website reads: “The Hulu app is no longer available in the Nintendo Switch eShop with support for the application ending on February 5, 2026.”
