On Sunday, guests on board the Jungle Cruise attraction at Disneyland Park were treated to one of the most unusual sights they’d ever seen at the Happiest Place on Earth: blood-red ride water, which is usually a swampy green. One Disneyland Resort guest shared a photo of the vibrant ride water on social media, leading to a discussion among Disney Parks fans.
The Jungle Cruise

The Jungle Cruise is one of Disneyland Resort‘s oldest attractions, having opened alongside Disneyland Park on July 17, 1955. In over 70 years of operation, the ride has undergone several changes, including its evolution from a serious, educational journey through waterways around the world to the lighthearted, pun-filled adventure that Disney Park guests know today.
Like many of Walt Disney’s creations, the Adventureland attraction proved to be an instant hit. Walt Disney Imagineers later created versions of the Jungle Cruise for Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort, Tokyo Disneyland at Tokyo Disney Resort, and Hong Kong Disneyland. The ride also inspired a 2021 film of the same name starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt.
Bloody Red Water on Disneyland Park Attraction

On Sunday, Disneyland Park guests expecting a normal adventure on the Jungle Cruise were shocked to see that some of the ride’s water was a blood-red color, rather than its typical hazy green. Reddit user u/zazerite shared this photo:
Red River on Jungle Cruise
The water’s vibrant color was concerning to many Disney Parks fans, especially considering that the Jungle Cruise remained operational at the time the image was taken. Thankfully, there’s an innocent explanation for the red river: the red dye blends with other chemicals in the water, eventually giving it the swampy green color that fans know and love.

“Give it a few days. This is I [believe] the dye they use on [the] water,” said u/Legokid535. “…It will clear up in a few days.”
