It’s official: one remaining vintage-style Disney Store is permanently closed as of Sunday, January 4, 2026. The Walt Disney Company announced the closure of the nostalgic merchandise location last year as part of an ongoing transformation of one of its theme park adjacent shopping, dining, and entertainment districts.
The Disney Store Announces Closure

In November 2025, the Disneyland Paris Resort app quietly revealed the closure of the Disney Store in the Disney Village shopping, dining, and entertainment district. This merchandise location was one of the few remaining nostalgic, time capsule-style stores, featuring a maximalist design and oversized character statues that many Disney fans recall from their childhood mall experiences.
The Disney Store remained open through January 3, 2026, but was listed as “under refurbishment” beginning Sunday, January 4. Disneyland Paris Resort has since revealed that the shop, as it is currently known, will never reopen. Instead, the European Disney destination is creating a new merchandise experience called “Disney Wonders.”

Disneyland Paris Resort previously shared the above concept art for the new Disney Village merchandise location, Disney Wonders. This “modern franchise-based shop” will take over the former Disney Store space in the shopping, dining, and entertainment district.

Disney Wonders is currently scheduled to open sometime in “summer 2026.” However, Disneyland Paris Resort hasn’t confirmed an exact grand opening date for the new merchandise location.
Disney Village Overhaul & More Magic in the Making at Disneyland Paris Resort

The Disney Store closure comes amid a massive modernization effort across Disneyland Paris Resort. On March 29, 2026, the current Walt Disney Studios Park will reopen as Disney Adventure World, a rebranding of the European Disney destination’s second theme park.
The World of Frozen area will debut at the park on the same day, and Walt Disney Imagineers have promised to add more new lands in the future, including one inspired by The Lion King (1994).
At Disney Village, fans have been tracking the rebuilding of another vintage-style destination: McDonald’s. While the current 1990s-style fast food restaurant continues serving guests, crews are busy constructing an all-new, modern version of the Quick Service spot. The original McDonald’s will close when the new location opens in “early 2026.”

Several new and revamped merchandise locations have debuted at Disney Village in previous months, including the LEGO Store, Disney Glamour, and Disney Style.
