Local authorities have approved Disneyland Resort’s request to demolish three separate buildings on its property in Anaheim, California. Here’s how this could impact your upcoming visit to Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney.

Anaheim officials have approved Disneyland Resort‘s permit to demolish the former La Brea Bakery and two nearby ticket booths in the Downtown Disney District. Once cleared, the plot will be used to construct a new dining location: Porto’s Bakery.

In April 2025, Disneyland Resort filed three demolition permits with the City of Anaheim: BLD2025-01762, BLD2025-01763, and BLD2025-01764. Government officials issued the permits on December 8, according to the city’s official permit database. All three permits expire on December 8, 2026.

The first permit, 01762, covers the demolition of the former La Brea Bakery building, which is 2,610 square feet in area. It includes plans to cap utilities attached to the structure and completely demolish it, including the removal of the foundation.

Permits 01763 and 01764 cover the demolition of two nearby ticket booths, called #7 and #8 in official Disneyland Resort documents. Both structures have an area of 865 square feet. As with the La Brea Bakery building, utilities will be capped, and the foundation of both ticket booths will be removed.

La Brea Bakery closed in 2023. For two years, its former building was home to the temporary Earl of Sandwich Quick Service and, then, the Table Service Earl of Sandwich Tavern.

Construction Timeline

Disneyland Resort first announced plans to bring Porto’s Bakery to the Downtown Disney shopping and dining district in 2022. Disney Parks fans heard nothing about the project until two years later, in 2024, when the family-owned bakery confirmed that the location was still in development. It was originally scheduled to open in 2025.

Southern California resident Rosa Porto and her family started Porto’s Bakery in her home and eventually expanded to six locations throughout the area. Porto’s serves Cuban-inspired sweet and savory baked goods, including empanadas, cheese rolls, and the fan-favorite Milk & Berries cake.

Earlier this month, Porto’s Bakery shared new concept art for the Downtown Disney location and announced that construction had begun. However, neither Disneyland Resort nor the Porto family has shared an updated grand opening date.
