During the summer, a behind-the-scenes video for the upcoming first-person action-adventure video game “Jurassic Park: Survival” revealed how Saber Interactive and Universal are bringing Isla Nublar back to life.

However, while the video showcases many aspects of the game, from dinosaur models to the environments on offer, it seems one major detail was hiding in plain sight this whole time.

In the featurette, developers and Universal execs walk viewers through their painstaking re-creation of the island from the iconic 1993 film, admitting that they’ve been relying on film archives, production stills, and blueprints to ensure “every prop is in the same place.”

Players will explore a “fully realised Isla Nublar,” moving through familiar locations like the Visitor Center, but also discovering previously unseen structures such as a hotel for guests.

The game puts you in the shoes of Dr. Maya Joshi, played by Payal Mistry, an InGen scientist who was unable to evacuate the island. In the video, Mistry describes Maya as “incredibly passionate and adventurous … she takes risks, she steps outside of her comfort zone.”

The gameplay blends first-person stealth and action, forcing players to use distractions, ingenuity, and their environment to survive encounters with dinosaurs.

The team repeatedly emphasizes their dedication to authenticity, especially when it comes to the dinosaurs. They highlight the “textures, the movements, the weight” and strive for behavior that feels true to the prehistoric creatures that inhabit Steven Spielberg’s 1993 film.

But some eagle-eyed fans have noticed a curious detail in a boardroom shown in the video: a storyboard depicting a jeep chase, in which a herd of Gallimimus seems to stampede over a car with Maya inside, suggesting a high-stakes set piece built into the game’s narrative.

This storyboard could hint at one of the most ambitious action sequences in “Survival”. It would not only give Maya a moment of real peril, but also lean into the sense of scale and danger that distinguished the original Jurassic Park, particularly where its vehicles are concerned, whether it’s the T-Rex breakout scene, or the gas jeep chase sequence later on.

With no confirmed release date yet, this hidden storyboard may be one of the most compelling teases so far—and a promising sign that “Jurassic Park: Survival” could deliver both nostalgia and heart-racing thrills.

“Return to Isla Nublar the day after the events of the beloved 1993 Jurassic Park film in an original adventure 65 million years in the making,” the blurb for the game reads.

“Survive thrilling first-person action as InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar, in this single-player action-adventure game and discover a never-before-told story. Through thrilling encounters, experience the wonder and danger of dinosaurs, each with their own distinct and adaptive behaviors brought to life by John Hammond’s vision.”

The game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
