Every holiday season, The Muppet Christmas Carol resurfaces as one of Disney’s most beloved traditions. It’s a film that’s both timeless and tailor-made for December. Now, with the Muppets’ presence in Disney Parks undergoing big changes, fans are beginning to wonder if the 1992 classic could soon find a new home in the happiest place on Earth.

Right now, that presence is shrinking — at least temporarily. Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World closed earlier this year, along with the rest of the Grand Avenue area, to make way for a brand-new Monsters, Inc. land. The closure marked the end of an era, as the attraction had been a truly beloved staple for well over 30 years.

But the Muppets aren’t disappearing altogether. In fact, they’re preparing for something of a reinvention. The long-running Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is being reimagined with a new Muppets theme, trading guitars for gags and glam rock for Gonzo. The revamped coaster is expected to open sometime in summer 2026.

That leaves one big question: could The Muppet Christmas Carol also be joining the party?

Given its seasonal appeal, an attraction seems very unlikely. But a limited-time pop-up during the holidays — perhaps a musical show or interactive walk-through inspired by the film — would fit neatly into the parks’ festive programming. Think about how Disneyland transforms Haunted Mansion into a Nightmare Before Christmas wonderland each year.

If that doesn’t happen, there’s always another possibility: the stage.

With major properties like Back to the Future, Frozen, and Stranger Things having already been given the Broadway and/or West End treatment, a live Muppet Christmas Carol musical feels somewhat inevitable. Its songs, humor, heartfelt storytelling, and iconic characters are tailor-made for theater — and for a generation that still treasures Michael Caine’s Scrooge and Kermit’s Bob Cratchit, it’s a timeless tale that deserves to keep growing.

Whether on stage or under the glow of Cinderella Castle, one thing’s certain: The Muppet Christmas Carol isn’t done spreading holiday cheer just yet.
