Any time of the year is a great time to visit the Disney theme parks, though things certainly get even more magical during the holidays. Christmas and New Year’s Eve tend to be some of the most popular times of the year, typically featuring a number of exclusive, limited-time experiences for travelers to take part in.

However, Halloween is arguably the biggest event of the year, as both Disneyland and Walt Disney World offer all kinds of tricks and treats to their guests. Walt Disney World’s annual Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicked off in August, as did Disneyland’s Oogie Boogie Bash.

Both events feature a number of goodies, ranging from rare meet and greets to Halloween-inspired nighttime shows, though these come with an added cost.

However, Disneyland guests also need to be prepared for several rides and attractions to be offline this Halloween season.

Disneyland will close a total of eight attractions for refurbishments as the resort’s spooky season unfolds. These closures join other rides and attractions currently offline for refurbishments, which include heavy-hitters like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, as well as Storybook Land Canal Boats and Casey Jr. Circus Train.

Goofy’s Sky School has been closed for refurbishment since September, which will last through October 4. Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes is closed through October 2, and will close later this month between October 6-9 and October 13-16.

Sailing Ship Columbia will be closed from October 1 to 2, October 6 to 9, and October 13 to 16.

Mickey’s PhilharMagic, a 3D theater attraction, will wind down operations on October 6. The closure is expected to last through October 30.

King Arthur Carrousel will close for a single day on October 7.

By far the biggest closure of them all is “it’s a small world,” which will close for its annual makeover on October 31. During this time, Disneyland gets the ride ready for the Christmas season. The classic boat ride will reopen on November 14.

Other attraction closures include Fantasmic!, which will be unavailable on select nights throughout the month of October.

Pixie Hollow will also close several dates during the month.

Over at Walt Disney World, several rides are set to close or are already offline. In January, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed at the Magic Kingdom for its extensive refurbishment, which has seen the iconic roller coaster get brand-new track pieces as well as various other technical upgrades.

Earlier this year, It’s Tough to Be a Bug closed permanently at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as did Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
