Guests visiting one Disney park are extremely limited in ride choices today.
Unlike many regional theme parks, Disney’s parks typically operate 365 days a year. Guests from all over the world can travel from Anaheim to Shanghai, confident in the knowledge that they can experience their chosen attractions any day they like. (As long as you have a ticket and, if necessary, a theme park reservation, of course.)

However, even Disney has to close its theme parks on occasion. We’ve seen Mickey Mouse bid a temporary adieu due to hurricanes, pandemics, earthquakes, and even political events in the past.
Over at Hong Kong Disneyland, the most common reason for an unexpected closure is inclement weather. The theme park, which has notoriously struggled financially since its debut in 2005, is no stranger to typhoons.
It has also faced recurrent partial closures due to heavy winds, as is the case today (September 19).
Hong Kong Disneyland Closes All But 7 Theme Park Rides
As Hong Kong powers through a Strong Wind Signal No. 3, Hong Kong Disneyland has once again closed all of its outdoor attractions. That means the likes of the notoriously short outdoor family coaster Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs in World of Frozen, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Jungle River Cruise, Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars, and more are all off limits to guests.
To put the scale of these closures into context, a guest has shared a notice on X, formerly known as Twitter, that highlights the only 12 experiences open during poor weather.
Signal 3 is in effect today.
Outdoor attractions are closed.
Only the attractions listed in this diagram will be open.
And that’s the explanation!

The experiences in question are Frozen Ever After, “it’s a small world,” Mystic Manor, Mickey and the Wondrous Book, Hyperspace Mountain, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Iron Man Tech Showcase – Presented by Stark Industries, Iron Man Experience – Presented by AIA Hong Kong, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle!, Animation Academy, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and Festival of the Lion King.
Of this list, only seven attractions are actual rides (Frozen Ever After, “it’s a small world,” Mystic Manor, Hyperspace Mountain, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Iron Man Experience – Presented by AIA, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle!) It’s also worth noting that Festival of the Lion King is temporarily closed as of September 3.
Hong Kong Disneyland is currently marking its 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the theme park has debuted Disney’s first Moana restaurant, Wayfinders’ Table, plus its largest parade ever, “Friendtastic!” The latter features 11 floats, over 100 performers, and 30 Disney characters, including the likes of Duffy and Friends and favorites from Zootopia (2016), Encanto (2021), and more.
