On Location, a store located at the front of Universal Studios Florida has closed permanently. The gift shop offered guests the chance to purchase items like hats, sunglasses, and other tourism necessities. On Location also acted as a spot for guests to pick up their photos.

While rides and attractions tend to be the primary focus for guests, the Universal Orlando Resort has a lot to offer those seeking a less-intense vacation experience, including an array of delicious eateries, as well as places to cool off and grab a drink.

Shopping plays a big role in the Universal Studios experience, with the resort having its own City Walk, an outdoor shopping and dining hub filled with some of the world’s leading brands.

It’s unclear why exactly On Location closed, though according to sources, Studio Sweets is rumored to take over the shuttered shop. This news was confirmed by Inside Universal, which shared a few photos of the now-closed location.

Those looking for a place to pick up their theme park photos can visit It’s a Wrap Gift Shop, which is found at the exit of Universal Studios Florida.

This is hardly the only change the Universal Orlando Resort has seen in recent months, with several other locations either closing temporarily or permanently. The resort will continue to see changes as 2025 continues, with the year perhaps ushering in the most important transformation in the resort’s entire history.

On May 22, 2025, Universal’s new Epic Universe theme park will finally open, sending it and the rest of the industry into an exciting new chapter. Fans have watched the new theme park take shape over the last half-decade, with Epic Universe being advertised and described as an unforgettable place unlike any other.

Filled with the same charm and magic found at Universal’s other two Florida theme parks, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida, Epic Universe will mark a notable shift in the company’s design and approach. The park will be anchored by several core brands that are not yet seen in Florida.

One of the biggest brands that will be featured inside Epic Universe will be Super Mario, with the red-capped plumber having his own themed land inside the park. Universal’s collection of classic monsters will also call Epic Universe home, as will Harry Potter.

A once-prominent part of the Universal Orlando Resort in Florida has closed, marking a new era for the iconic theme park destination.

Will you be visiting Epic Universe this summer? What is your favorite Universal Studios theme park?
