Disney World has confirmed a closure heading for Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter in less than two weeks.
Frustrating though they may be, closures are part of the package at any theme park, Disney or not. While it sounds ideal to have every attraction, restaurant, store, and experience open all year round, the reality is that every element needs some downtime to maintain both its quality and safety.

Sometimes, these closures can be permanent to make way for new additions. Like Walt Disney said upon opening Disneyland Park in 1955, the parks are never complete as long as there’s imagination left in the world.
As it turns out, Walt Disney Imagineering has plenty of imagination, as it’s set to shutter the likes of Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer’s Island, DinoLand U.S.A., and It’s Tough to Be a Bug! in the near future. Cars Land, Tropical Americas, and Zootopia: Better Zoogether will take their place.
(Yes, we’re still bitter about one of these – guess which).
But luckily one of the next closures heading to Walt Disney World Resort is pretty short-lived.

Over at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter – one of Disney’s Moderate Resorts, themed like New Orleans’ historic French Quarter, complete with “cobblestone streets, gas lamps, wrought-iron balconies and fragrant magnolia blossoms” – a temporary closure has been lined up for later this month.
As per the Disney World website, the hotel will be down one eatery come September 23 as Scat Cat’s Club is closing for refurbishment.

The café typically serves a blend of Mickey Mouse-shaped beignets and specialty beignets, as well as Baton Rouge Beignets, which contain your choice of Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur, Kahlúa Liqueur, or RumChata Liqueur.
If you’re desperate for a beignets fix, fear not because the resort’s Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory will serve the offerings typically found at Scat Cat’s Club during its closure. This includes its Ghoulish Beignets, a Halloween specialty dusted with cookies and cream powdered sugar, and a marshmallow creme drizzle.

You can also find beignets at Golden Oak Outpost in Magic Kingdom Park. Added to usher in the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (which replaced Splash Mountain in June and has suffered recurrent technical issues ever since), these are known as “Tiana’s Famous Beignets” and are dusted with powdered sugar and a drizzle of honey.
Scat Cat’s Cafe is currently slated to reopen in mid-October. Stay tuned for more updates!
