Universal Orlando Resort Sets up Safety Measures Around Parks, Thousands of Guests To Be Impacted

It’s been a record-breaking summer in Central Florida as heat waves, tropical depressions, and a spike in COVID cases have negatively impacted the state since the beginning of May.

Universal Orlando Resort has had a successful summer with the launch of DreamWorks Land, tons of new offerings, and the reveal of Epic Universe, among other things. In just 28 days, Halloween Horror Nights will commence at Universal Studios Florida, starting earlier than ever.

The theme parks are doing quite well compared to the Walt Disney World theme parks, which have seen a decline in attendance rates, a massive dip in their stock, and a botched opening for their newest attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Universal will continue the winning streak by taking it upon themselves to keep all their guests safe from the scorching heat. Epic Universe, a new Universal destination opening next summer, will introduce guests to the Dark Universe, Celestial Park, an expansion of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and so much more.

Universal Orlando Resort is rolling out a new heat relief initiative this summer by installing giant power fans throughout its theme parks. The move aims to provide guests with a much-needed respite from the dangerous heat wave that has gripped Florida since the start of the season. Adding these high-capacity fans significantly enhances the park’s efforts to ensure visitor comfort and safety as temperatures continue to soar.

Kudos to @UniversalORL for setting up these power fans around the parks to help guests keep cool.

The fans, strategically positioned in high-traffic areas and near popular attractions, are designed to circulate cool air and reduce the intensity of the heat, offering a welcome break from the sweltering conditions.

“We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all our guests, especially during these extreme weather conditions,” said a Universal Orlando Resort spokesperson. “The giant power fans are a key part of our strategy to help guests stay cool and comfortable while they enjoy their time at our parks.”

The installation comes in response to ongoing high temperatures that have pushed heat indexes to dangerous levels across Central Florida. According to meteorologists, the state’s summer heat wave has resulted in some of the highest temperatures on record, with heat indices often exceeding 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

Park guests have already begun to notice the difference. “The fans are a game-changer,” said one visitor. “It feels so much cooler and more comfortable walking around the park now. It’s a huge relief in this kind of heat.”

Universal Orlando Resort advises visitors to stay hydrated, take regular breaks, and seek out shaded areas as additional measures to cope with the heat. The addition of power fans is expected to be a crucial element in maintaining guest safety and comfort during one of the hottest periods of the year.

With these new measures in place, Universal Orlando Resort continues to prioritize the well-being of its guests while delivering the high-quality experience it is known for.

In other Universal news, the National Hurricane Center has declared a Tropical Storm Warning for portions of Florida, including the theme parks’ locations. As the tropical system approaches Florida, rainfall is expected to spread from south to north across the state. Portions of Florida’s west coast, including Tampa Bay and Charlotte Harbor, could experience a storm surge of 1-3 feet.

Guests planning to visit Universal Orlando Resort during the tropical storm warning and state of emergency should take necessary precautions for their safety. Universal Orlando Resort officials recommend that visitors stay informed by monitoring weather updates and adjust their plans as needed.

While the resort will remain operational, adjustments to park hours or temporary closures of certain attractions may occur depending on the evolving weather conditions.
