The Disneyland Resort in California is home to many rides and attractions, but few experiences are as captivating as Fantasmic.
Fantasmic is a nightly show featuring Mickey and his friends as he encounters some of the most iconic and modern faces from Disney’s ever-expanding list of movies. Filled with stunning special effects and intense pyrotechnics, Fantasmic is, in a word, “fantastic” and, as a result, is one of the most popular activities at Disneyland.
However, guests viewing Fantasmic during its most recent performance this week were in for a surprise, with part of the show being suspended after one of the pyrotechnics went rogue.

According to a new report from WDWNT, Disneyland’s performance of Fantasmic on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, was partially suspended due to a rogue firework being sent off. The firework went rogue during the jungle segment of the show, causing all other pyrotechnics to be shut off for the remainder of the show.
WDWNT recorded and shared a clip of the incident, which reveals the moment the rogue fireworks were set off. No injuries or damage were reported.
As they say, “The show must go on,” and that is precisely what happened. Disneyland cast members and performers did not miss a beat, carrying on with the rest of the show seamlessly, per the report.
However, these pyrotechnic issues are concerning, given Fantasmic’s rather troubled history.

This is the third pyrotechnic-related issue to affect Fantasmic since the show returned after its lengthy hiatus. This hiatus itself was caused by a massive pyrotechnic accident, which saw the large Maleficent animatronic dragon catch fire and burn to the ground.
Fantasmic was put on indefinite hold for months later, finally returning this May. However, since its return earlier this summer, Fantasmic has encountered several other issues, including a misfire with Mickey and a Mickey performer falling during a performance.
The Walt Disney World Resort features its own version of Fantasmic, which is also incredibly popular. This show can be found at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park, near the entrances to the Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
