While many people might not think of New England as a prime vacation destination, the six states have a lot to offer. Massachusetts is the birthplace of the American Revolution, and there are more stunning historical sites than you can shake a stick at. The coastline traveling along Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine offers some really great beaches. There are also amazing hiking trails and camping sites.

And we can’t forget about the fun amusement parks! There are so many fun spots guests can visit throughout New England, including Six Flags New England, Santa’s Village, Story Land, Cape Cod Inflatable Park, Water Country Water Park, Santa’s Land USA, and so many more. But one of the oldest and most beloved is certainly Canobie Lake Park, located in Salem, New Hampshire.

Canobie Lake Park first opened in 1902 and featured a massive botanical garden and just a few rides. However, over its more than 120-year history, it has transformed into a major amusement park, complete with roller coasters, a swinging pirate ship, multiple carousels, plenty of rides for younger visitors, and even a water park!
It is at the Canobie Lake water park — called Castaway Island — where guests recently saw police surrounding one incredibly intoxicated guest. However, it was not simply because the man had been drinking that the police were called. It was because the man had gotten so drunk that he had stripped off all his clothes and was lying naked near the wave pool, around adults and young children.

According to local Boston news station WCVB, the 74-year-old man’s name was John Carabello. He is from Somerset, Massachusetts, which is about 90 miles from the amusement park.
Police said they received a call around 6 p.m. Wednesday from security at Canobie Lake Park that several families and children had witnessed John Carabello from Somerville, Massachusetts, naked.
“A number of people had seen this, including children, and that they had reported it to Canobie Staff, who had reported it to the police,” Capt. Jason Smith, with the Salem Police Department, told WMUR.
When an officer arrived, Carabello was arrested for indecent exposure. Investigators allege he had been naked for several minutes.

What truly astounded the police was the fact that Mr. Carabello had not been drinking at Canobie Lake. He had been drinking prior to arriving at the park and was still incredibly drunk. He was so drunk that police had to put him into protective custody.
After his release, Mr. Carabello shared a written statement with the New Hampshire television station WMUR.
In a written statement, Carabello told WMUR that it was “extremely poor judgement” on his behalf. “I was not able to be in control of my behavior,” Carabello said in the written statement. “My apologies to all involved. I am extremely remorseful and respectful.”

At this time, we do not know how Mr. Carabello arrived at the amusement park. If he drove himself there, he would most likely be charged with driving under the influence and reckless endangerment, along with the indecent exposure charges he is already facing.
