Incendio! Alohomora! There are new magic wand spells, new Butterbeer-flavored desserts, and loads of new fun to be had in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood in California.

Guests entering through the main entrance to Hogsmeade Village will spot the first changes to their right after they pass the Hogwarts Express and train station. The two new spells have been emblazoned in the cobblestone on the ground and a simple flick of the wrist (with the right pronunciation, of course) will cause the giant door in front of you to shake, unbuckle its ornamental locks, and then billow out a puff of dragon smoke, accompanied by an eerie red glow. And the second spell will send a plume of fire erupting out of the tallest chimney in this area of the Wizarding World.

In addition to the new spells, three fun, fresh desserts are now available to help Muggles cool down during their visit to Hogsmeade: the tempting Butterbeer ice cream, Butterbeer potted cream, and Butterbeer fudge. Plus, the Three Broomsticks restaurant has added new items to its lunchtime menu including Ploughman’s Lunch, Cheese Toastie with Chicken, and the Sunday Roast Sandwich.

As if that weren’t enough new magical experiences to try out in the Wizarding World, the Gladrags Wizardwear shop is now selling an authentic-looking replica of Professor Severus Snape’s robe, and Hermione’s Yule Ball gown in both adult’s and children’s sizes. And as we covered recently here at Inside the Magic, “The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle” has returned with new pyrotechnic effects.
