Much has been made about the box office success of Marvel’s “Black Panther.” After the film posted the 5th biggest opening weekend of all time, Disney decided to donate $1 million of that money to Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
The donation will help support the organization’s youth STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs.
“[It was] thrilling to see how inspired young audiences were by the spectacular technology in the film,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger.
“It’s fitting that we show our appreciation by helping advance STEM programs for youth, especially in underserved areas of the country, to give them the knowledge and tools to build the future they want,” Iger added.
As of February 27, “Black Panther” had made nearly $422 million.
