Nothing of value was lost! I’m so tired of female protagonists and girlboss slop! Good riddance to Encanto 2!

I feel you. I’m a chick and don’t understand the need to push all these strong, leadership type chicks. Enough with that agenda already. Oh but if you don’t go along with it they think you hate females. Maybe Disney cancelling this is a sign they’ve noticed that a lot of feminist films like Supergirl, End of Oak Street, Wildwood and Forgotten Island are failing. Hexed and Gretas female Aslan movie is next to flop. Nobody hates females, we just don’t accept feminisim and mis@ndry anymore

Greta has already addressed the criticism with the expected words, “s3xism” and “misogyny”. If I were to speak to her woman to woman I’d tell her to take her precious buzzwords and her chronicles of utter nonsense and shove it up her rear. I have the books and I’ve read them multiple times. Not once did I imagine Aslan as having a female voice nor did I pitch a fit when Disney did him right by the books and a man, Liam Neeson, voiced him. What Greta thinks of me for not wanting to see her cr*p is unimportant

Same with me. If Disney’s brand isn’t already targeted for females, it get changed to suit the female audience and random male characters get gender swapped during the live action treatment. Like, WHY? JUST… WHY? Unlike the way the feminists of Hollywood think and want all females to think, I am not appalled by a higher ratio of males in my movies! In order to escape this heavy female pandering and virtue signalling, I skip stuff like Disney throws out and watch series with strong male leads and I have every right to do so!

How about leave it as a standalone?! I didn’t even watch the first one but I get fatigued with Disney wanting to drag every IP out there into 4 or 5 sequels because they are creatively bankrupt! Moana didn’t even need a sequel! I didn’t get anything out of Moana 2! I don’t care how much it made, it wasn’t even half as good as the first one! Learn how to leave things alone, Disney! Hire people who actually know how to make good stories! Even children with crayons and YouTuber creators with AI come up with better stuff than Disney!!

    1. Marion

Glad I see I’m not the only one who felt that way about Moana 2. It felt like it was telling the same story as the first one only more watered down, boring and ch!ldish. The only thing left different now is that she has magic superpowers like every other girl boss Disney has made in past decade

  3. Matt

You mean Disney actually did something smart? Kudos! 👏🏻

Good, we don’t need it. There’s enough “Disney princess” and girlboss stereotypes out there anyway. Hexed is coming out soon and it’s somewhat similar to encanto. Also has anyone else besides me notice how Disney likes to reuse the same model of teenage girl or young woman over and over? The huge eyes, the expressions and everything, they just change the skin tone, hair color and style and eye color. Basically it’s the same face model every time. If you watched the latest Hexed trailer (which is cringe) you’ll notice how baby Billie looks EXACTLY 100% just like little Moana! Disney must stamp these girls out with a cookie cutter, lol. It’s gotten really old, ok?

    1. Samantha

I think it’s called recycling characters. The huge, golf ball sized eyes seriously turn me off as well. The girl on the right in that pic is exactly like I mean. The eyes seem to take up half the face 👀 Also I can’t stand that hexed girl’s toothpick legs. They look like they could break at any time. Disney just doesn’t know how to create anything good anymore. Just cheesy, girly slop and live action slop. Slopsney is really what they need to start calling themselves.

  5. Justin

No, it does not need a follow up. You are right to not make an Encanto sequel. The first one was silly enough, I’d hate hate to see how worse in storytelling they’d do with a second like they did Moana

    1. Christine

I watched the first Moana and loved it. Watched it multiple times. When I watched the sequel I was like, what in the name of humanity is this hot cash grab garbage?! I cringed through the songs and overall just wanted see the first one again instead. And when I found out Disney means to make a third I’m like stop it…get some help Disney! Basically both Moana films had the same plot, she goes out on a boat to find Maui save an island and her people from some evil power only the first one was worlds better so what in the world they think they can come up with for a third is beyond me. Disney was right to cancel this movie! We were spared more cash grabby slop!

      1. Marion

I think we’re better off pretending there is no Moana 2 because the first one ended perfectly and didn’t have to have a continuation

  6. Dino Might

    Oh no!!!

    Anyways…

  7. Marion

The first one looked extremely weird so I wasn’t about to see it. Besides, Google says it made only 261 million dollars. Pretty sure that means it was a financial flop. It’s not like we don’t already have enough female protagonists, “Latino representation” and 3D animated slop. Disney just likes to prove that they are out of ideas and are totally dependent on sequels, spinoffs or prequels and remakes to make a buck anymore. I bet Walt is heart broken watching his company sink morally and creatively down the drain of no return

    1. Nathaniel

It only made 261? Never knew that. Yeah for sure that’s a flop. Maybe it had something to do with the covid

  8. Darryl

Fine with me. First one wasn’t that great but at least we can say it’s sacred to its originality rather than having sequels and a remake attached to it. Wish I could’ve said the same of other films Disney has dragged through the mud with their agenda like Lilo and Stitch

  9. Lyon King

Oh uh, that’s ok Disney. We’ll live without it. Trust us. 😉

  10. SaraLee57

They say this now but in a few years when they’re all sitting around the table trying to come up with new movies and no one can think of anything unless it’s in connection with an already existing franchise they’ll say, “Well maybe we should make an Encanto sequel after all and then a live action remake, everyone will just love that!”

  11. Bert

The hate is strong with these commenters.

    1. Nathaniel

An emotion you can relate to, I’m sure 😉

    2. Daisy

And? So? Who are you, the comments police? Are the moderator of this site? Disney posts this stuff and leaves it open for people to leave opinions and comments about the subject. If their opinions hurt your little feelings well then that’s just too bad. Apparently not everyone is a Disney adult like you and you don’t have to leave some st*pid comment crying about everybody not liking your precious Disney slop!

    3. Cathy

Oh wow, commenters are ok with Disney not making a sequel to a girly cartoon movie and have opinions about reused facial design and some miserable soul comes along thinking you’re full of hate maybe you should touch grass more often instead of living 24/7 on Disney+??

  12. Daisy

I may be late to this party but here’s my two cents– Encanto was a massive hit on streaming unlike its theatrical run and the Bruno song became an unhealthy obsession. It came out in November 2021 when COVID was still a fear, so some audiences were still fearful about getting back together in crowds. There were also other reasons such as it being a holiday time, and receiving competition from Ghostbusters. So would an Encanto sequel do good? Probably so.
Does the franchise need it? Absolutely not. There were a lot of Disney movies that were masterpieces and did not get sequels. Therefore I think fans will be just fine.

    1. Cathy

I think the covid was the main reason it failed because yes it did explode on Disney++ because it was put on a month after theaters and it was for free
