Exactly! Fuck what people think. Let them be offended. That’s their issue not anyone else’s. That slavery South bullshit has passed centuries ago. I hate Disney more and more each day. They keep destroying the things that once made them worth paying money for. Now it’s gone to shit everywhere.
I think the whole thing about closing Splash Mountain is utterly stupid. Never once did i feel it was in anyway racist. It was a beautiful ride and fun.
I absolutely adore the new Tiana ride. It was high time to get rid of the former ride that was based off a story that whitewashed the horror of slavery and twisted it into a romanticized ideal of the South during a shameful period in American history.
Exactly! The original Splash had nothing to do with slavery. It had fucking animals in it. Whoever even said it was offensive was high off their asses. Maybe they were hallucinating and taking LSD while on the ride and seeing things that were never there. It wouldn’t surprise me. Their kind often do.
Oh go to hell. Slavery ain’t even a thing anymore. I agree with the man below me. That shit is over and done with. You don’t like it? Move to a European country
Disney has absolutely no power over what comes and goes in Tokyo Disneyland! They donāt own it! It belongs to the Oriental Land Co. The Japanese do not have the same hang-ups America has! Itās a different audience. Iām so fed up with Disney allowing changes to classic attractions to bow to the few very vocal highly offended types! Disney, mind your own business! This aināt your park!
Exactly. Those prissy park goers want to be offended over something that doesn’t exist because they’re smoking hallucinogens, that’s not our problem. And Disney is a bunch of whimpy ass kids who are too scared of losing even one fucking dollar. Golddiggers.
You’ve now destroyed the rivers of America That whole area is lost The feel is not the same whatsoever. They’ve taken out a Bug’s Life which was a wicked fun and put it in Zootopia which I love but just did a horrible job of showing Zootopia. Should have just added the ride but they got cheap because again we’ll go back to standards and they lose money because they keep making crap. And then let’s just talk about the fact that you used to be able to make fast passes for free. Actually made it fun You used to have an hour early time and now you get A half hour which is just stupid really. The changes in fantasmic suck. In the fireworks show at Magic Kingdom is not even close to what it used to be doesn’t even come close to making you feel anything where the other one did completely way more emotional way more hit home This one sucks. No more Star Wars Day on the cruise boats which was absolutely awesome. In the Star Wars show at Hollywood Studios the fireworks show was spectacular and they got rid of that as well. These are just the few that come right off the top of my head I know there’s even more. This company is by morons they don’t get it they don’t deserve it And my only hope is that someday someone takes this over and puts everything back in the love that this company had in the standards my God the standards have dropped unbelievably.
Tiana deserves her own attraction. People who criticized the original Splash Mountain know nothing of the books by Joel Chandler Harris, and the significant contribution to American folklore and storytelling by former slaves. And to preserve that ignorance, we aren’t allowed to talk about it or showcase it. I pretty much hate everything Bob Iger did to Disney during his two turns as CEO. He ruined that company.
The ride was exciting and innovative. Another fact: Song of the South is the LEAST racist film of all time! It promoted Uncle Remus character to the top of a plantation of now-freed slaves. Not only do the farm workers depend on him for advice and training their kids, but the white crowd in the plantation house relies on his advice for their kids, but call him in as he was leaving the plantation to administer to the owner’s kid.
The iconic, energetic, magical song that greeted us for decades as we entered the Magic Kingdom was also the LEAST racist song ever videoed — it is a combination of animation and live action by “Uncle Remus”, but each of the three kids joyfully romping to the tune are of differing physical characteristics, including race.
The loss of Splash Mountain and those iconic tunes on Main Street resulted from determined activists who convinced Disney executives; I am guessing with “Are you going to believe my strident demands, or your lying eyes?”
I grew up on Brer Rabbit and his adventures. Loved his story books The ride was amazing. I never ever connected the ride to slavery. I was an innocent child reading about Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit. Trying to take away my love for his books and Song of the South is very sad. I just do not see this hate.
Comments for Disney’s Final Version of Splash Mountain Is Shutting Down in January
Jeff
Fuck the people taking this ride away and rot in hell. This was the best ride and it’s replacement sucks.
M
I did enjoy the original version immensely and don’t think it should have been changed. If you want something for Tiana build a new ride.

Itās an 80 year old film! Get over it! Focus on racial equality in TODAYS world! Not history which is exactly that – history.

Plus, Tiana is boring af.
Connie
YOU ARE THE PROBLEM! The actual ride has NOTHING to do with the movie. It IS about the antics of 3 funny animals.
