Since 2015, Universal’s original blockbuster dinosaur franchise has gradually been pushed aside by Jurassic World, with the newer branding appearing across movies, merchandise, theme parks, television, and video games. While the Jurassic Park brand remains an enormously important part of the property’s identity — it is after all, actually part of the same franchise — Jurassic World has increasingly become the name Universal uses to take the franchise forward.
Now, the latest example of the slow extinction of the Park side of the franchise seems to be happening in gaming.
Despite the highly anticipated first-person action-adventure game Jurassic Park: Survival being first announced at The Game Awards in December 2023, developer Saber Interactive has yet to provide any significant new update. In fact, the last time we had any sort of significant update on the long-gestating single-player game set immediately after the events of Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic was summer 2025, when Saber released a behind-the-scenes featurette video.
However, during this year’s Gamescom event, Saber revealed that Jurassic World will be featured in Stuntman: Hollywood, another upcoming game from the same developer. The title will include a dedicated Jurassic World adventure alongside other major Universal properties, with players performing high-speed stunts inspired by the movies. Watch the trailer below:

“Step into one of cinema’s most iconic worlds with action-packed stunt sequences inspired by Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World,” the official description for the game reads, adding, “Experience high-stakes action inspired by the world of Jurassic World. Navigate massive set pieces, dangerous terrain, and unpredictable obstacles while keeping the cameras rolling.”
It’s understandable that some Jurassic Park fans are now even more frustrated. After all, Survival was announced as the game many fans had been waiting for: a first-person adventure returning to Isla Nublar just one day after the original 1993 film, complete with the iconic park gates, Visitor Center, dinosaurs, and an entirely new story.
Instead, Saber is now actively promoting another Jurassic project (and a World one at that) while Survival remains without a release date. This latest development also reflects a much larger shift that has been happening across the franchise.
Universal Studios Hollywood retired Jurassic Park: The Ride in 2018 and transformed it into Jurassic World: The Ride, which opened in 2019. Universal Orlando still retains Jurassic Park River Adventure, although that attraction is currently undergoing a lengthy refurbishment. Rumors that it would receive the same Jurassic World overhaul have circulated for years, but Universal has not confirmed such a change, and recent construction evidence suggests the Jurassic Park experience is being retained.
Even the movies have moved firmly toward Jurassic World. Last year’s Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) retained the World banner, making it the fourth film in the Jurassic World series. A sequel to Rebirth is currently in development.
Now, with another Jurassic World game moving ahead while Jurassic Park: Survival remains stuck without a release date, fans have a legitimate reason to wonder whether the long-awaited return to Isla Nublar will ever actually happen.
