But over the decades, it has garnered a newfound appreciation from some fans who find plenty of “danger-tainment” value in watching Michael Myers (Brad Loree) terrorize a handful of annoying teens as they try to carve out 15 minutes of fame while exploring his creepy old childhood home in Haddonfield, Illinois, for a live-stream Internet reality show.
Busta Rhymes’ Freddie Is One of the Best Halloween Characters
If you enjoy the film, you’ll probably agree that Busta Rhymes’ Freddie Harris, the co-creator of Dangertainment alongside Tyra Banks’ Nora Winston, is a standout character, not only for his quips and charisma, but because he becomes the first character in the Halloween film series to perform kung fu against The Shape, complete with a dose of much-needed comedy and attitude.
And how can anyone forget his iconic line: “Trick or treat, mother f***er!”
Sure, Resurrection might be a little cheesy in parts, and it does feature what many fans consider to be the most egregious events in the franchise — retconning Halloween: H20: 20 Years Later‘s solid ending in which Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) decapitates Michael Myers and then killing off the legendary final girl herself — but we happen to think it’s one of the stronger entries.
Will Busta Rhymes Return to Halloween?
If you don’t believe that there are fans out there who genuinely love this movie, you’ll be surprised to learn that fans are now calling for Busta Rhymes’ fan-favorite character Freddie to appear in the newly released Halloween: The Game (2026).
Developed by IllFonic and released earlier this month, Halloween: The Game allows players to either play as Michael Myers himself, or as one of the “Heroes of Haddonfield,” which includes legacy characters such as Laurie Strode (Chelsea Krause) and Dr. Sam Loomis (Colin Mahan).
Naturally, though, fans are already calling for IllFonic to bring in characters from later films through DLCs. Now, the YouTube channel Slash ‘N Cast, which put out a lot of content about the game even before its release, has posted a video about their ideal “DLC tier list,” which includes Freddie Harris (Busta Rhymes) appearing as a playable character somewhere down the line.

Whether or not Freddie Harris will appear in the game remains to be seen. The title is centered exclusively around John Carpenter’s original 1978 film; however, as is often the case with games like this, future DLCs could introduce elements from later films such as characters and locations.
Directed by Rick Rosenthal, who had already helmed Halloween II (1981), Halloween: Resurrection grossed $37.6 million worldwide against its $15 million budget. It marked the end of the mainline continuity, and the series was rebooted in 2007 with Rob Zombie’s Halloween.
