I think there could be two possible reasons why a Space Mountain reimagining wasn’t discussed at D23. First, a huge part of the western side of the park is closed. Disney may be waiting until Piston Peak opens to balance park capacity. Second, with the announcement of a new Tomorrowland in California, both the US Space Mountains could be part of a bigger update. Disney does like to build two.
