I was just about to say the same thing. I am sick and tired of Hollywood ruining movies with changing gender and race of well known characters, it’s ridiculous. Far from a racist person, it’s annoying and doesn’t do justice.
They need to recast Snape and reshoot his scenes to line up with the book’s description or I’m out. Snape is supposed to be pale with a hook nose. Going with this actor will mean further deviations from the source material unless you want the characters bullying him to look racist.
Snape in the books is described as having yellowish – sickly skin and yellow teeth – More Asian looking than anything else. If people want an exact rendition of the characters in the book – most of the characters would need to be recasted.
Ron is supposed to be tall and gangly – about the same height as the twins in book 1 and much taller than them by book 4.
Hermione is described with big long curly bushy hair and big – like a giant curly fro – and big teeth – more Hispanic looking than anything else.
Now, there are characters in the books such Angelina Johnson and Lee Jordan who are described as black.
And then we have characters like Dean Thomas and a bunch of others whom are described vaguely such as just by their accents and no skin color.
My point in saying all this is, can we just get the storyline correct all the details and side stories in the shows – the characters are close enough – can we get the story right this time?
