This likely relates to some minor changes that I believe were announced at D23. The big one is now that WDW has the Hatbox Ghost, they’re going to relocate him to where he actually belongs. Where he sits now by the haunted hallway distracts from the story flow and other effects. I think he’s supposed to be in the attic.
I hope that it’s something minor. This is a classic ride/attraction. It wouldn’t be the same if they did aa major change and people will really be upset.
