I have to admit, this bums me out. I’m 47 and so I was gping to Disneyland as a little kid in the 80s! And I remember the area just being one big parking lot. It was exciting and easy to just walk up to the entrance from your car and get your tickets. I feel like Disney is forcing so many things in us, like mobile tickets, so of course no one is using them. Of course, I’m biased because I had a childhood without the internet and cell phones.

I wish they’d just convert them to something else, rather than tear them down. They still represent the magic of Disneyland from the 1950s which is, to me, the heart and soul of Disneyland that must be preserved.

I haven’t noticed any other new changes, just that huge, vacant area behind the construction walls where it seems Portos is going to be. I’ve grown used to and fond of Downtown Disney because, well, it is what it is, what can I do?! But it’s just starting to feel sort of crazy around there and when I finally walk out of DD and see those kiosks and the front entrance, I finally feel like home. It’s incredible to have a place that has looked the same for so many decades. I feel like Disney misses the boat if they think it’s just about what is or isn’t being used. This is the tragedy we see with getting rid of Rivers of America in Disney World because it wasn’t as “popular”. They totally miss the point about the enduring magic and history. Disneyland is about MOOD. I know there are a lot of new things that have become beloved favorites for new generations. But there is still that essential backbone. Anyway, long way of saying this is a bummer!! I really don’t like when they mess with the old school stuff. I still miss the sky way 😉
