Disney World Confirms Free Halloween Event for Three October Dates

Halloween at Walt Disney World has become an expensive proposition. Between the parties, the merchandise and fun food options all over the property.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs $119 to $229 per person, depending on the night, and several dates have already sold out. Party-exclusive merchandise sells fast. Popcorn buckets and sippers add up. For a family of four, a single party night can run past $600 before anyone buys a churro.

None of that makes the party bad. It is genuinely one of the best hard-ticket events Disney runs. But it does mean plenty of guests who want a Halloween experience are looking for options that do not require breaking the bank.

Disney Vacation Club Members have one of those options, and it is coming back this year.

The Disney Vacation Club Halloween Meet & Treat returns to Disney’s BoardWalk on select dates in October 2026, and it is completely complimentary.

The Dates

The Membership Magic event takes place inside Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney’s BoardWalk on three dates:

  • Monday, October 5, 2026
  • Monday, October 12, 2026
  • Monday, October 26, 2026

Each event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern Time.

Note the two-hour window. This is not an all-day drop-in, and with only three dates on the calendar, timing matters.

One Date Per Membership

This is the rule that will catch people, so worth stating plainly.

Members are limited to attending one date per DVC Membership. Disney has structured it that way so that as many eligible participants as possible can experience the event.

So you cannot hit all three. Pick your date and plan around it.

What Actually Happens

During the Halloween Meet & Treat, attendees interact with Disney Characters dressed in Halloween costumes and collect candy.

Specific characters and treat selections have not been announced and are subject to change.

For a sense of what to expect, the first Disney Vacation Club Halloween Meet & Treat at Disney’s BoardWalk back in 2022 featured the hag from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Vampire Goofy, and Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

That lineup is a good indicator of the tone. These are not standard character meets. The costumed versions are the entire point, and the hag in particular is a genuinely rare appearance.

Who Qualifies

The eligibility requirements have a few layers, so read carefully.

  • Available to Disney Vacation Club Members eligible for Membership Extras
  • Members must have a qualifying reservation booked through their eligible Membership
  • That reservation must be at a Disney-owned-and-operated Walt Disney World Resort hotel or Disney’s Vero Beach Resort
  • The reservation must be active on the date you plan to attend

That last point matters. Having a Membership is not enough on its own. You need to be staying on a qualifying reservation that day.

How Many People You Can Bring

Each Member may bring up to four guests per Membership Card, or the number of guests included on their resort reservation.

Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a participating parent or guardian.

No Registration Required

Good news for anyone dreading another 7 a.m. booking window.

Advance registration is not required.

Members must present a valid Disney Vacation Club Digital Membership Card and photo ID at check-in, and the person named on the card must attend.

So have your Membership Card pulled up in the app before you walk over, and make sure the named Member is actually in the group.

Why the BoardWalk Location Works

Atlantic Dance Hall is a smart venue for this.

It is indoor and air-conditioned, which matters enormously in Central Florida in early October when the heat has not fully broken yet. Anyone who tried an outdoor character meet in August this year knows exactly why that is worth mentioning.

Disney’s BoardWalk is also walkable to EPCOT and a boat ride to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so folding this into a morning before a park day is realistic rather than a whole separate outing.

And it happens on Mondays, which are typically lighter days across property.

How This Compares to the Party

Being honest about what this is.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a full evening with a parade, fireworks, a stage show, trick-or-treating across Magic Kingdom, and a deep character lineup. This is a two-hour event with characters and candy.

They are not the same thing, and this does not replace a party ticket.

What it is, though, is a free Halloween experience with rare costumed characters, indoors, on a Monday morning, for Members who are already staying on property. That is a genuinely good perk, and it costs nothing.
