Credit: Inside the MagicGetting around Walt Disney World is never a static experience. Whether it’s new buses, updated routes, expanded parking, or transportation improvements tied to larger construction projects, Disney regularly adjusts how guests move around the resort.
Now, one of those changes has officially arrived at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
After months of construction, Disney has expanded the park’s bus depot, adding new transportation stops designed to make resort transfers smoother for guests. While it isn’t the kind of headline-grabbing addition that comes with a new attraction or land, it’s the sort of operational improvement that can have a noticeable impact on thousands of visitors every day.
Disney Expands Animal Kingdom’s Bus Depot
Construction on the expanded bus area began in late 2025, and the new section is now complete and open to guests.
The project adds four new bus stops at the end of one of the existing transportation rows. According to the completed layout, these stops are designated for transfers to:
- Magic Kingdom
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- EPCOT
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort
The expansion doesn’t change Disney’s transportation system entirely, but it does reorganize where guests wait for several popular destinations.
More Room for Guests
The new section also looks designed with guest comfort in mind.
Disney installed overhead themed signage, large ceiling-mounted fans, queue railings, fresh pavement, and additional lighting throughout the expanded area. These features should provide more organized waiting areas while helping guests stay comfortable during Florida’s heat and frequent afternoon rain showers.
Anyone who has visited Animal Kingdom around park closing knows transportation can become one of the busiest parts of the day. Thousands of guests often leave within a relatively short window, creating long lines for buses headed toward Disney resorts and the other theme parks.
Additional loading space could help Disney manage those crowds more efficiently.
A Park That Continues to Evolve
The transportation update comes during one of the biggest periods of change in Animal Kingdom’s history.
The park is currently undergoing a major transformation as DinoLand U.S.A. makes way for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. Disney has already closed much of the former DinoLand area, with future attractions based on Encanto (2021) and Indiana Jones expected to anchor the expansion.
Elsewhere in the park, guests can also experience newer additions like Bluey’s Wild World while Disney continues preparing for even more changes over the next several years.
While transportation upgrades aren’t as flashy as new rides, they’re often necessary as attendance patterns shift and new areas open.
Small Change, Big Difference
For many guests, the first and last part of their Disney day happens at a bus stop.
A larger, more organized transportation hub won’t shorten every wait, but it can improve guest flow during some of the busiest times of the day. As Animal Kingdom prepares for even more visitors in the years ahead, expanding the bus depot appears to be another step toward supporting the park’s continued growth.
It’s an operational update that many guests may barely notice at first—but after standing in a shorter, more organized queue at the end of a long park day, they may end up appreciating it more than they expected.
