Summer at Walt Disney World may still be going strong, but one of Disney’s biggest family-focused offerings of the season is quickly running out of time.

Disney has confirmed that Cool KIDS’ SUMMER will officially end on September 8, 2026. The limited-time event has brought extra character experiences, activities, entertainment, and family-friendly additions across Walt Disney World throughout the summer. Disney currently promotes the event as an opportunity for the entire family to “feel like kids together.”

Now, guests have only a few weeks left to experience it.

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER has been more than one individual attraction or show. Disney spread the celebration across its theme parks and select resort hotels, giving families several additional experiences to find during their vacations.

That makes the September removal a little different from a typical attraction closure. Several pieces of the summer celebration are tied to the event, and at least one popular Magic Kingdom experience is expected to disappear along with it.

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER Ends September 8

Disney launched Cool KIDS’ SUMMER as a seasonal celebration built around characters, family activities, attractions, and additional ways for younger guests to play.

Disney’s official summer guide specifically lists character opportunities where families can “dance, play and chill out” with Disney characters. It also promotes summer activities at select Disney Resort hotels, including scheduled character appearances.

All of that came with an expiration date.

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER runs through September 8, 2026, and Disney is still telling guests not to miss the experience before it ends.

The September 8 date also lines up with Disney World’s larger transition away from its summer operations.

Typhoon Lagoon will begin its seasonal closure on September 8, while Blizzard Beach remains open. H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon ends a few days earlier on September 5.

For families visiting Disney World around Labor Day, that means several summer offerings will be reaching the finish line at roughly the same time.

One Magic Kingdom Experience Is Going Away

One of the biggest Cool KIDS’ SUMMER additions has been Jessie’s Roundup: A Rip-Roarin’ Revue! Presented by Babybel at Magic Kingdom.

Disney describes the experience as a Toy Story-inspired hoedown inside the Diamond Horseshoe.

Instead of standing outside in the Florida heat, families can head indoors and spend some time with Jessie and her friends. The experience gives children a chance to dance and participate in activities while parents get a break inside an air-conditioned space.

That combination has made Jessie’s Roundup particularly useful during a summer Disney World vacation.

It isn’t a major attraction that requires guests to plan their entire day around it. Instead, it gives families something more casual to do between rides, meals, and other plans. For parents traveling with younger children, having another indoor activity available during the hottest part of the day can make a noticeable difference.

But its time appears to be almost over.

The September changes report states that Jessie’s Roundup will close as Cool KIDS’ SUMMER ends, with the Diamond Horseshoe eventually making way for a new dining experience.

That means guests hoping to experience the hoedown shouldn’t wait much longer.

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER Reached Beyond Magic Kingdom

Jessie’s Roundup may be one of the most noticeable pieces of Cool KIDS’ SUMMER, but Disney built its larger summer push around experiences throughout Walt Disney World.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney has promoted Bluey’s Wild World at Conservation Station, where guests can play and dance with Bluey and Bingo. The park’s summer lineup also includes Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, Kali River Rapids, and Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has its own lineup. Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! gives families another character-driven experience, while Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets and the new Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run mission are also included in Disney’s summer guide.

Over at EPCOT, Disney has promoted GoofyCore at CommuniCore Hall alongside Soarin’ Across America, Frozen Ever After, and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana.

Not everything listed as part of Disney’s broader summer guide will disappear on September 8. Many of these attractions and experiences exist independently of Cool KIDS’ SUMMER.

Still, the seasonal celebration tied them together as part of Disney’s push to give families more to do during the summer months.

Disney Resort Guests Got Extra Summer Fun, Too

The celebration wasn’t limited to the four theme parks.

Disney also advertised Cool KIDS’ SUMMER experiences at select Disney Resort hotels. Those offerings included scheduled character appearances, adding another layer to the summer experience without requiring families to be inside a theme park.

Disney also tied its broader summer campaign to additional resort benefits.

Its official guide promotes early theme park entry at all four parks for eligible Disney Resort hotel guests and notes limited-time character experiences during the summer.

For families who built their 2026 vacation around those extra activities, September 8 becomes an important date.

Guests arriving before then can still catch Cool KIDS’ SUMMER. Those arriving afterward should expect Disney World to be moving into its fall lineup instead.

Will Cool KIDS’ SUMMER Return in 2027?

That’s the big question Disney hasn’t answered yet.

At this point, Disney has not confirmed that Cool KIDS’ SUMMER will return in 2027. The September changes report notes that the 2026 celebration ends September 8 and that a return next summer has not yet been announced.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the concept is gone permanently.

Disney regularly changes its seasonal entertainment, character experiences, promotions, and vacation offers. Cool KIDS’ SUMMER could return in its current form, come back with different activities, or eventually give way to another summer promotion.

For now, however, September 8 is the only confirmed date that matters.

Once that date arrives, the 2026 version of Cool KIDS’ SUMMER is finished.

September Brings a Bigger Disney World Shift

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER isn’t the only thing changing as Disney World moves into September.

Coral Reef Restaurant at EPCOT is scheduled to close September 8 before reopening later in 2026, although Disney has not provided an exact reopening date. Typhoon Lagoon begins its seasonal closure that same day.

At the same time, new experiences are arriving.

The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is scheduled to open September 14. Disney says the new experience will include multiple activities, including Off the Page character meet-and-greets and Olaf Draws.

So September isn’t simply about Disney removing summer offerings. It’s another transition point for Walt Disney World.

The summer entertainment calendar is winding down, fall experiences are taking over, and new additions are preparing to welcome guests.

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER just happens to be one of the more noticeable offerings caught in that change.

There Isn’t Much Time Left

Families still planning an August or early September Disney World trip have a small window left to experience Cool KIDS’ SUMMER before it ends.

The celebration officially continues through September 8, giving guests a final opportunity to catch its character activities and seasonal experiences. For anyone particularly interested in Jessie’s Roundup at Magic Kingdom, the deadline carries even more weight because that experience is also preparing to disappear.

What happens next remains less certain.

Disney hasn’t announced Cool KIDS’ SUMMER for 2027, so guests shouldn’t assume these experiences will simply return next year.

For now, Disney has put an expiration date on one of its major family offerings of 2026.

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER ends September 8, bringing the seasonal celebration to a close as Walt Disney World turns its attention toward fall.
