Back in the day, Universal was negatively compared to Disney because their rides would continually break down & be closed(looking at you Jaws & Kong). Universal was abused for rushing to open attractions before strenuously testing them before opening to the public while Disney opened rides & they stayed up & functioning. Fast forward to now & Disney has done the same thing. A little bit more time testing rides under full use conditions would probably uncover these issues before the ride was opened to the public. Disney’s money grabbing first philosophy probably drives this. There is no longer any attempt to uphold or attempt to meet the standards of the past. Is that because Disney guests are willing to except Disney’s statements about how great it still is; or, have the guests from Disney’s glory days just given up & no longer expect Disney to meet their prior standards?
Disney really screwed up replacing a perfectly family ride in which was not racist and animals were the theme, now with a theme catered for 1% of loud voices.and it breaks down all the time. Perfect example of how to waste 100’s of millions and piss off visitors
Who is being racist. Them are facts. You woke people are sorry people. You are making this country sick. Them are facts. The original ride was great. You always want to take the past away unless it benefits you.
Agree! I think it is also breaking down because the quality of care to the parks and attractions is poor. The new greedy jerks in charge don’t care about quality.
They were wanting to get rid of Splash Mountain for many years. Disney wants to erase the “Song of the South” movie from existence. They just want to bury it. And they were going to get rid of that ride’s theming as soon as they could.
Splash Mountain is not gone. Tiana does not exist. I can confirm as someone who was at the 75th in 2046. I have a Time Machine like Doc Brown. Disney has no right to withhold Song of the South and will be ordered to release it by the government or go to prison. Disney when I take over will embrace Song of the South and there is nothing racist about it.
In some ways I hope Disney fails as management embraced woke culture and became a Socialist empire. Perhaps the Mouse can come back to true American values!
Without taking sides on preference between Tiana and Splash, what people conveniently forget in the rose colored glasses of memory … Splash Mountain was also down constantly. I was unable to ride the last two times I attempted to ride it, one on each coast, complete with Fast Passes.
Their D.E.I practices have infiltrated their maintenance capabilities. They don’t want to pay for quality people, they are happy with candidates that barely earned the degree.
Not that I’m disagreeing with your overall sentiment, but do you have any first hand knowledge of Disney’s maintenance operation or data that can support your statement?…I just hate it when facts get in the way of a good emotional outburst.
1. Splash Mt was already falling apart. 2. They mostly ignored this and quickly put together a new ride without fixing the real issues of the ride. 3. I’ve been evacuated off that ride, you don’t want to know what it looks like behind the scenes. I’ve had anxiety riding it ever since and only ride it now if my kids ask. Otherwise I stay away from it. 4. No one under 40 knows wtf Song of the south is, get over it. Disney has always been a work in progress and Walt himself changed things. 5. Tiana deserved a better ride. I think Pocahontas fits better but what do I know. Whatever it is, that mountain is rotting away from the inside and constant water erosion.
Thing is, Splash Mountain was broke all the time too. And the animatronics didn’t work half the time either. The ride itself has engineering flaws, and the animatronics don’t do well around water and the Florida heat/humidity. Permanently fixing the problems would likely necessitate a tear down and new ride vehicles. Much more money than they want to spend.
I don’t mind the change in theme, there was so much to capitalize on from the film. What bothers me is the quality produced from their D.E.I engineers that create the actual mechanical aspects of the “imagineered” design. Get them all in one room to see the pool of folks I’m talking about. It won’t be confidence inspiring.
Wow!! I wanted to read the comments about the attraction(s). But when I get here there are comments about race, politics and Trump. Those topics are NOT allowed anywhere where the blessed name of DISNEY is spoken or written about. Thank you.
Tianas Bayou Adventure ride takes place in 1927 right before the Mississippi river flood disaster and doesn’t even mention Charles Lindbergh first airplane flight over the Atlantic Ocean. Also where’s Walt Disney cartoon reference to Alice comedies with Julius the cat or even Oswald the lucky rabbit? Where’s Felix the cat? Or the Great Gatsby book? Or coca cola sign ads? Or alcohol prohibition reference. Mamie Smith song New Orleans isn’t in the attraction. The Disney imagineers did not do enough research
Tianas Bayou Adventure ride itself is a huge letdown Tiana looks like Bessie Coleman an African American aviator pilot who crashed her airplane in 1926. But anyways I’m still waiting for additional animatronics to be added in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride at Disneyland and Disney world. I want Disney imagineers to spend additional millions of dollars and add more spoonbill birds especially at the dropoff dancing to dig a little deeper in 2 rows. I also want lady butterflies in the frog shrinking section, also while they’re at it put in a little bluebird, a riverboat against the New Orleans backdrop, show Naveen arguing with Louis the alligator like in the Little Golden Book Tianas Bayou Adventure.
Also they should have a Mississippi 1927 flood memorial plaque so Disney guests never forget about the 1927 flood and that it almost flooded New Orleans and Baton Rouge and tell us the history of the 1927 flood in the queue.
And finally I want to see a Halloween season version of Dr facilier magic splash Bayou show with spooky, masks, dolls, shadow spirits, skeletons coming to life singing friends on the other side song especially at the dropoff, then I’ll come back to Disneyland again for that villain ride before it reverts back to the updated Tianas Bayou Adventure ride.
The problem is that Disney is now run by the 20% not the 80% of what America wants. They’ve lost their way unbelievably to what Walt’s ideas were I have been going to Disney World since I was a kid I also bought Disney Vacation Club back in the day and really kind of regret it now because when I bought in I thought I was going to have a place that was spectacular all the time It is not it has changed considerably from when we bought in. So much has been lost due to financial losses of this company and their woke ideas that have not worked and they keep pushing dana Walden is going to make it even worse. Here’s a rundown of things that they have done since I’ve been alive. No Disney shuttle to and from The airport, You can no longer check your bags and and get them picked up at your door You can no longer sign into your airplane at your hotels you can no longer buy something at the park and then have it delivered to you at your hotel one of the most stupidest things they could have gotten rid of because there’s so many times people want to buy things and don’t want to carry them around and now they see something and say hey should I buy this I don’t want to carry it around forget it whereas before they would have bought. They totally screwed up Pirates of the Caribbean by taking Red out and making some woke abomination that would never be there. They have ruined Jungle Cruise for no apparent reason by taking out the shrunken head guy who was hilarious changed the way the people were on the pole because there was a white person on top or some stupid reason like that. You’ve now destroyed the rivers of America That whole area is lost The feel is not the same whatsoever. They’ve taken out a Bug’s Life which was a wicked fun and put it in Zootopia which I love but just did a horrible job of showing Zootopia. Should have just added the ride but they got cheap because again we’ll go back to standards and they lose money because they keep making crap. And then let’s just talk about the fact that you used to be able to make fast passes for free. Actually made it fun You used to have an hour early time and now you get A half hour which is just stupid really. The changes in fantasmic suck. In the fireworks show at Magic Kingdom is not even close to what it used to be doesn’t even come close to making you feel anything where the other one did completely way more emotional way more hit home This one sucks. No more Star Wars Day on the cruise boats which was absolutely awesome. In the Star Wars show at Hollywood Studios the fireworks show was spectacular and they got rid of that as well. These are just the few that come right off the top of my head I know there’s even more. This company is by morons they don’t get it they don’t deserve it And my only hope is that someday someone takes this over and puts everything back in the love that this company had in the standards my God the standards have dropped unbelievably.
One last thing people used to come Magic Kingdom to go on Splash Mountain nobody goes to Magic Kingdom now to say hey I want to go on Woke Mountain Nobody does they lost that feel completely. Also the idea that Splash Mountain was down all the time as completely fake news. I can’t even count how many times I’ve been to Disney World since I was born in 1978 every time we’ve gone there it was open and it was a memory that I have especially with my father and kids. This is just another way that people from the far wacky left are trying to make their idea look right when it is complete garbage.

Disney stock is exactly the same amount of money that it was back in two thousand fifteen. Pajamas tonight, if anything, it has gone down, you can look it up. There are facts. The fact that they are up is the greed of making people pay for things that were free before. They make you pay for everything that is supposed to be magic. And it was not like that before, and that is my bigger point, especially for the guy who wanted to complain about a forty eight year old who loves disney. There’s a following. No they didn’t. Numbers always lie. Disney will be great again when I take over and erase the whole Iger era and especially after Washington breaks it up as a monopoly. Nobody will miss the casual fans who stop going to the parks thinking that they’re stuck in the 20th century when I take over. Disney needs its purists.
It’s true they destroyed one of our most favorite attractions for a ride through the swamp collecting vegetables for a dinner we don’t even get to enjoy. They cheated both Splash Mountain fans and Tiana fans. We have on our mantle 3 Splash Mountain Frames from our Disney Trips through the years. Shame we will not be able to continue the tradition.
I think Tiana deserves an attraction of her own, that fits her theatrical story. Something befitting a Disney Princess. Disney should close, completely refurbish and retheme Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. I am thinking a theme based on a Joel Chandler Harris storyline would be perfect!
A pattern critical of Disney’s current creative skillset weaves through these comments on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Disney is milking the parks and park guests because Disney’s creative releases are just so-so, or worse. The parks and cruise line are carrying the corporation today. Gone are the days of one block buster after another, Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Lion King, Aladdin. Walt Disney was an innovative artist, a visionary, and most importantly, he was a story teller of superb skill. Disney has no storytellers today. Disney’s new movies and new themes for the park attractions, except for Guardians of the Galaxy, are just so-so. This is where Josh needs to focus if he wants to bring back another golden age of Disney. Disney has to get out of the bi coastal bubble. America is not the bi coastal mindset. America is your audience.
It was unnecessary for Disney to shut down Splash Mountain since it was a very popular attraction. I don’t have anything against Tiana’s Adventures, but Disney didn’t have to destroy Splash Mountain.
I went on TBA once at Disneyland, one and done. At least there was nobody in line (and empty logs on both sides of me, that was unique!) Unfortunately that’s one less major attraction when I visit. And now people are so bored that they’re exiting early. The pickings can be slim sometimes when I visit Disneyland, even as a Star Wars fan I find little compelling with Galaxy’s Edge. Everything was functioning on TBA, but it’s completely missing any interesting storyline. At night, the exterior looks so trashy. NOTHING worth the wow-factor hype of the preview announcements.

My biggest gripe with tianas splash mountain replacement is that they didn’t keep with the story that we saw on screen. They attempted to make it like a live action sequel that nobody asked for. When I finally was able to go back to Disneyland with my teen boys, not on a senior trip back in 96, we were so looking forward to seeing the way we imagined they would have set up “The Shadowman”. It was unnecessary for Disney to shut down Splash Mountain since it was a very popular attraction. I don’t have anything against Tiana’s Adventures, but Disney didn’t have to destroy Splash Mountain.

Splash Mountain is alive and well in the US and there is no Tiana. Splash is also not racist nor does Disney have any right to say what it is.
