This week, Walt Disney World Resort began changing the main guest entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Here’s what to know before your next visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth.

On July 15, Blog Mickey reported that green plastic barricades had been set up around a portion of the main entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Walt Disney World Resort appears to be pouring new concrete in the area, replacing faded beige walkways with fresh dark brown pavement. The outlet shared this photo of the contrasting pavement on social media:

This area is just beyond the security checkpoint at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, near the Rainforest Cafe entrance. It’s before guests approach the actual theme park gate and the Guest Services office.

Guests can continue to use both the main entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and the alternate entrance through the Rainforest Cafe. As the refurbishment work continues, families may be forced to walk around affected areas, but vacations should otherwise continue as normal.

Walt Disney World Resort has not commented publicly on the ongoing refurbishment at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, which isn’t unusual. Disney rarely issues statements on projects that don’t require closures or otherwise significantly impact the theme park guest experience.

It’s unclear whether Walt Disney World Resort will continue to refurbish the walkways at the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park in stages, as it has historically done with projects like this one. Older pavement in the area is visibly cracked, so we’d expect Disney to replace most of it in the coming days. It also remains unclear whether Disney will begin similar projects at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney Springs.
