Disney World gave guests extra time to experience one of EPCOT’s most meaningful offerings in the lead-up to the Fourth of July holiday, but now the attraction has officially reached the end of its extended run.

Earlier this year, Disney announced that “Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors” would remain open through the Fourth of July weekend as part of the resort’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The exhibit, located inside The American Adventure Pavilion at EPCOT, featured more than 60 oil portraits painted by former U.S. President George W. Bush honoring post-9/11 service members and veterans.
The extension allowed thousands of additional guests to experience the exhibition beyond its originally planned engagement, with Disney positioning the display as part of its wider patriotic celebrations throughout 2026.

Disney Extended the Exhibit Through Independence Day
When announcing the extension, Disney Parks Blog emphasized the company’s longstanding support for members of the U.S. military, veterans, and their families. The collection paired President Bush’s artwork with the personal stories of the veterans featured in each portrait, offering guests a chance to learn more about their service and lives after returning home.
At the time, Jason Galui, Director of Veterans and Military Families at the George W. Bush Institute, welcomed the decision.
“I am grateful these portraits of our nation’s service members, painted by their former Commander-in-Chief, will continue to be available for guests to view at the American Adventure Pavilion at Disney’s EPCOT,” Jason Galui (Director of Veterans and Military Families at the George W. Bush Institute) told Disney Parks Blog earlier this year.

“Sharing veterans’ stories reminds all of us of their incredible courage, sacrifice, and resilience in defense of our nation – and of their continued contributions to our communities beyond their time in uniform,” he added.
Originally intended as a limited-time exhibit, “Portraits of Courage” ultimately received multiple extensions before concluding after the Independence Day holiday.
Disney Has Now Closed the EPCOT Exhibit
Now that the Fourth of July has passed, Disney has officially closed the exhibit at EPCOT, as reported by Kenny the Pirate. Guests visiting The American Adventure Pavilion have found that “Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors” is no longer available, marking the end of its extended stay at the park.
The closure follows Disney’s previously announced timeline, which stated the exhibit would remain open through the Fourth of July weekend before concluding its run.

While some temporary attraction closures at Walt Disney World happen unexpectedly because of technical issues or operational concerns, this closure represents the planned conclusion of the exhibit’s extended engagement.
For guests who were able to visit before it closed, “Portraits of Courage” offered a distinctive experience that blended artwork with the personal stories of America’s veterans. For those arriving after the holiday weekend, the space inside The American Adventure Pavilion will now appear to return to normal operations following the exhibit’s departure.
The closure marks the end of a notable chapter for EPCOT, bringing to a close an exhibit that Disney repeatedly chose to extend before finally concluding its run following the Fourth of July celebrations.
