The strategy makes sense from a business perspective. Limited-time offerings encourage repeat purchases, create social media buzz, and give returning guests something new to experience. Disney has successfully used that formula with everything from popcorn buckets to festival food booths.

Still, some longtime fans have noticed that the straightforward pineapple DOLE Whip isn’t receiving as much attention as it once did. Rather than celebrating the dessert that built its reputation, Disney appears focused on reinventing it with more complicated recipes designed to keep interest high.

Disney Celebrates 50 Years of DOLE With New Creations

This year marks 50 years of collaboration between Disney and DOLE, and the anniversary has inspired several brand-new menu additions across both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.

To celebrate DOLE Whip Day and the milestone partnership, Disney introduced three new specialty desserts that are now available throughout the parks and resorts.

At Disneyland Park, guests can now order the new Hoa Aloha Float at Tropical Hideaway near Jungle Cruise. The dessert combines classic DOLE Whip pineapple with cucumber-lime agua fresca, then adds chamoy and candied kiwi for a much bolder flavor profile than the traditional version.

That location also debuted the colorful Swirl Up Some Magic souvenir cup. The collectible first appeared at Tropical Hideaway and Tiki Juice Bar before expanding to select Walt Disney World locations, giving fans on both coasts an opportunity to bring home the commemorative cup while supplies last.

Over at Walt Disney World, Disney introduced two limited-time peach-inspired desserts.

Guests visiting Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort can now order the DOLE Whip Peach with Streusel Crisp, served in a waffle cup with sliced peaches and crunchy streusel topping.

Meanwhile, Blizzard Beach guests can find the DOLE Whip Peach with Streusel Cobbler Sundae at Lottawatta Lodge. That version builds on the peach DOLE Whip by layering vanilla cake, peach fruit filling, and streusel into a dessert that feels closer to a full sundae than the classic frozen snack.

The anniversary menu continues Disney’s long-running practice of building new flavors and layered desserts around the original.

Not Every Fan Wants Disney to Reinvent a Classic

While many guests enjoy trying the newest limited-time offerings, others aren’t convinced every classic needs a makeover.

Part of DOLE Whip’s appeal has always been its simplicity. On a hot Florida afternoon, a cup of pineapple soft serve didn’t need layers of cake, fruit fillings, or specialty toppings to feel special. It became famous because it was refreshing, recognizable, and consistently delicious.
