Less than a week after Inside the Magic first reported on scaffolding around the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, more construction equipment has appeared around the iconic Hollywood Tower Hotel facade. Let’s take a look at this unannounced refurbishment project at Walt Disney World Resort.

In May, Walt Disney World Resort refurbished elements of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror queue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Weeks later, some decorative flags came down from the exit of the Tower Hotel Gifts merchandise location inside the building. Then, scrim blocked portions of the facade near the gift shop.

Last week, scaffolding appeared on the far right side of the Hollywood Tower Hotel facade. Still, Walt Disney World Resort did not explain what it had planned for the attraction, and it continued to operate normally inside the building.

On July 7, WDWNT reported that more scaffolding had appeared on the Hollywood Tower Hotel facade. This time, Disney cast members installed the metal construction equipment in the top center above the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror gift shop, Tower Hotel Gifts.

The outlet also reported that they had not spotted active construction work in the area, despite the increasing presence of scaffolding and other equipment. Walt Disney World Resort filed a permit for “general construction” on the attraction in March. It was filed by the Central Florida Disney vacation destination’s Facility Asset Management Teams, which typically signals a refurbishment rather than an update or other significant construction.

Walt Disney World Resort still has not commented publicly on the construction equipment outside the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The drop ride continues to welcome Central Florida Disney Park guests, despite the work on the outside.
