Yes. WDW is expensive. Parties are not necessary nor is Lightening Lane. There are tickets and resort discounts in 2026 and ways to save on your trip. We are AP and DVC and no longer go to overpriced parties and never do LL. It is all about choices.
Went years ago when everything was still there and prices reasonable, stayed on property for a week. No longer will go again, several rides eliminated and price is extremely expensive now.
I’ve been going since it opened. I remember way back when you got a book of tickets or when it was $99 for 4 Parks for Florida Residents. We went last year on a multi park pass. I was astounded at how expensive it was! I’m sure it keeps a lot of young families away.
You also need to know someone savvy on how i it works now with lightning lanes, reservations and such…. it’s a lot. Thankfully our kids were “in the know” and we had a great time!

Yes, sadly, I think costs for pretty much everything at WDW have out-priced the families Walt created the parks for in the first place. We are taking a week long, 3 generation trip this fall which will cost upwards of 15K. It is insane; we could never spend money for extra parties or events. It already costs almost $200 /day to go to Magic Kingdom, let alone adding $189 for an extra few hours. Exorbitant for sure.

Tickets are much much cheaper for international guests. I’m not sure if similar disparities exist for lodging. But American guests are being shaken down with substantially more expensive ticket prices.
The justification for dynamic pricing is to price for demand. That argument doesn’t fly when the tickets for the same dates have such different prices.
I understand that every business cost related expenses and they hope to make an annual profit, but it’s gotten to the point that I think the Disney management is going a bit too far with their pricing of just even the entrance fee. Unless your family income is up in the higher six figures bracket, it’s hard for a family of 4 to visit any of the parks, stay at a value resort or even buy a dining snack plan. Disney needs to think about why Walt and Roy opened Disneyland and planned WDW. It was for the kids and the families. And yes I plan on returning to WDW. It’s been in my blood since I was a kid visiting Disneyland in 1965. It’s a hard habit to break.

Every “experience” is now a separate price. You already had to plan around the larger crowds for holiday periods, now to enjoy holiday offerings they charge as much or more than a day ticket. Ah, the capitalist experience – charge more give less, not reason, excuses or apologies included.

The wealthy who can afford a WDW holiday vacation can also afford taking their family to Bavaria and the Alsace, to visit European Christmas Markets for similar money and experience authentic celebrations of Christmas, places from which many of our American Holiday traditions began. Disney needs to address its root problem — make better movies that appeal to a wider base of families, so they don’t have to gouge the park visitors in order to support their entire corporation. Disney’s political advocacy has been a strategic failure. Its past time for Disney to fix it.

Anything Disney does is still better than universal. The expansiveness of Disney and the multitude of options is many levels beyond the 2nd rate six flags experience universal offers. The silver lining for universal is hotel access but the parks are small and boring.
Disney is pricing out ” undesirable guests” by increasing prices on everything. The last time I went to Disney with my parents and sisters was 30 years ago. The Disney I knew no longer exists. I didn’t take my children for that reason. I went to Disney World in the 70’s. It was fun, you engaged with the cast members, it was affordable, and you could visit all the kingdoms and have a great time.
Disney went woke and I am all for inclusion but it isn’t the same Disney that I knew. So, y’all can keep it. I am not mortgaging my house or putting 10,000 on my credit card to fight for places in line, eat over priced food, buy Disney stuff that will eventually end up ay Goodwill and while you may have some ” family moments” it doesn’t give you what you pay for.
It’s crowd control. The events are just drawing too many people. Raising prices thins the crowds and I’m here for it. Disney is doing the right thing on all of the decisions that they’ve been making 👏.

Disney used to get away with high prices because they offered more than the competition and had a higher standard of service. Now they offer less than competition right down the road and have institutionalized anti-guest hostility and nickel and diming, all at a higher price than ever.
You can see the result at the parks right now: it’s all foreign tourists with discounted tickets/rooms or AP locals. The parks might be packed, but profits are stagnant. Now they are actively trying to make it harder for people to spend money at their hotels, because they want them to spend money elsewhere.
Disney will change course. Either they will do it on their own or their investors will demand it.
